MARINE NOTICE, 153 of 2016

Royal Canal,

McLoughlins Bridge,

Bridge Works Adjacent to 17th Lock

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise that work to McLouglins Bridge, 17th Lock, will be undertaken from now until January 2017 for repair and upgrade of the bridge. Scaffolding will be erected over the channel, and passage will not be possible until works are completed, this section of the navigation will remain closed.
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience that this closure may cause its users and thanks its customers for their cooperation in this matter.

Canoe Polo Club Championships 23 July 2016

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that the Canoe Polo Club Championships will take place in Richmond Harbour in Clondra on 23 July 2016.
Owners and Masters of vessels are kindly requested to clear the harbour for the duration of the event. Soft bank moorings are available West of the harbour for the duration. Masters and owners of vessels transiting the area should heed guidance instructions from event organisers.
Waterways Ireland thanks their customers for their assistance in this matter.

Floating Moorings

Marine Notice No 10 of 2016 refers. Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all users that the floating moorings in Mountshannon Harbour which had been closed to the public due to damage as a result of winter floods have now been reopened.

Marine Notice No 10 is now withdrawn.

Over 240,000 people visited the world’s largest trade fair for yachting and water sports in Düsseldorf/All expectations exceeded/Enjoy a 360° Water Sports Experience: New concept a resounding success

After a very difficult economic year in 2009, the yachting and water sports industry is looking ahead to the future with confidence.  Some 240,200 water sports enthusiasts from over 60 different countries showed cause for optimism at boot Düsseldorf 2010, which ended on Sunday 31st of January, as well as generating good business in many segments of the range on offer at the fair, a slight increase on last year, which saw 238,000 visitors pass through the doors of the exhibition centre in Düsseldorf.
