Temporary Closure due to Repair Works

Marine Notice No 130 of 2013 refers.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that the Royal Canal West of Mosstown Harbour will remain closed until Friday 4th April in order to complete necessary repairs to a collapsed culvert.
Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their cooperation in this matter and regrets any inconvenience that this may cause.

Restricted Navigation

Marine Notice No 5 of 2014 refers.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise owners and masters that navigation will be reopened at Sallins from Fri 14 Mar on a restricted basis due to the ongoing construction work, which is expected to last until June.
A restricted channel has been allocated for boat passage, however, 24 hours prior notice is required to ensure that workboats and construction equipment are clear of the channel. Masters should contact the local Lockkeeper 00 353 (0) 872895611 to notify request for passage (9.30-17.00 except Wednesdays).
Masters are requested to note any instructions issued by ENCO staff, the works contractor, in relation to the movement of vessels through the works area.

Navigation Restrictions, Sat 15th  March 2014

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all Master and User of the Grand Canal that Offaly Rowing Club will be holding a Series of Time Trials on Saturday 15th  March from 09.00 Hrs. until 16:00 Hrs. approx.
The Rowing Time Trials will be held between Daingean and Ballycommon and between Lock 23 and Lock 24 on the Grand Canal at Cappincur, Tullamore.
Navigation will be restricted during the Period of the Trials.
Master of Vessels should heed Stewards Instructions.

Barrow Navigation

Storm Damage Remedial Work

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise owners and masters that following the recent period of high winds and heavy rainfall there are a number of trees blocking the Barrow track line and some of the lateral canals on the Barrow Navigation.
Waterways Ireland staff are working to clear both the trackway and navigation however some of the banks have been flooded for the past 6 – 8 weeks and these have been inaccessible therefore anybody planning a voyage should consult Waterways Ireland staff member Mr Jim Butler on 087 1320234 or their local lock-keeper.
Please note also that the trackway between Milford and Rathvindon will be closed for the next six weeks because of damage caused by the floods.
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience that this may cause its customers.

ERNE  NAVIGATION

Cleenish Bridge, Bellanaleck

Major Refurbishment Works
5th March – 14th June 2014

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters and owners of vessels and boats on the Erne Navigation that major refurbishment is being carried out to Cleenish Bridge, Bellanaleck.
Suspended scaffolding will reduce the Air Draft to approximately 2 metres.

Diversion routes following the North channel of Cleenish Island, via Tamlaght Bay, should be used.
