Carrick Carnival 29 May to 7 June

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that on Sun 31st May between 2200hrs and 2359 hrs, a fireworks display will be conducted from a barge anchored in Murrays Bay, approx. 300 m South of the Town Bridge. No vessels are to approach within 100m of the barge during the firing routine.
On Mon 1 June between 1400hrs and 1700hrs a raft race and a swimming event will take place within the immediate vicinity of the Town Bridge, note that swimmers will cross from one side of the navigation during this event.
Masters are requested to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash while keeping a sharp look-out at all times when in this area and to note any directions given by the attending safety boats.

Colleges Sailing Regatta

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that the above event will take place in Carrick-on-Shannon from Fri 10th to Sun 12th Oct 2014. Course preparation will take place on Fri 10th while racing will take place from 0900hrs to 1800hrs on Sat 11th and Sun 12th.
The course will be marked by yellow buoys and the transition area will be at Waterways Ireland’s floating mooring. Masters should note that a number of the mooring spaces at this mooring will be temporarily reserved for the event.
Masters should proceed at slow speed when approaching this stretch of waterway during the event and note any directions issued by the organisers and safety marshals controlling the event.

Rowing Regatta

Navigation and Mooring Restrictions

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters and users of the Shannon Navigation of navigation and mooring restrictions in Carrick- on- Shannon to facilitate the Rowing Club Regatta on Sunday 3 August 2014.
Waterways Ireland will monitor access to the floating jetties from Monday 28 July.
The Regatta will be held on a 400 metres stretch of water immediately south of the town bridge commencing at 08:00hr and finishing at approx. 18.00hr on Sunday 3 August 2014
Craft wishing to make a through passage will be facilitated every 2 hrs approximately, during the course of the regatta.
Masters should note that ONLY vessels of an overall length of 22ft. /6.8m or less will be permitted on the floating jetties from Fri 1 to Sunday 3 August.
This is necessary in the interest of marine safety and to facilitate the laying of the competition course.
Vessels berthed from Friday 16.00hr will be required to remain in place until racing finishes at approx 18.00hr on Sunday 3 August.
No vessels should approach the jetties between 16.00hr Friday and approx 18.00hr Sunday as the entrance to the berths will be closed off and manoeuvring room will be severely restricted due to the proximity of the course.
Masters are advised to proceed at slow speed and with due caution and to take note of advice from course marshals when passing through the area.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that a raft race and a swimming race will take place in Carrick on Mon 2 Jun 2014 between 1430hrs and 1630hrs.
These events will be held in the vicinity of the Boat Club and also immediately upstream and downstream of the town bridge.
Masters and owners are requested to give these events a wide berth, proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash when passing and to note any advice issued by the safety craft accompanying the events.
