Grand Canal, Greenway closure

Lock 8 to Lock 9

16 November to 16 December 2022

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise users of the Grand Canal Greenway that the greenway section from the 8th Lock to the 9th Lock will be closed from 16th November 2022 to 16th December 2022 to accommodate services installation works.
No public access is permitted during these works. A temporary Traffic Management Plan with diversions for pedestrians and cyclists will be in place.

Grand Canal, Schließung des Greenway,
Lock 8 bis Lock 9, 16. November bis 16. Dezember 2022
Waterways Ireland möchte die Nutzer des Grand Canal Greenway darauf hinweisen, dass der Abschnitt des Greenway von der 8. Schleuse bis zur 9. Schleuse vom 16. November 2022 bis zum 16. Dezember 2022 gesperrt wird, um Arbeiten zur Installation von Versorgungsleitungen durchzuführen.
Während dieser Arbeiten ist der öffentliche Zugang nicht gestattet. Es wird ein vorläufiger Verkehrsmanagementplan mit Umleitungen für Fußgänger und Radfahrer eingerichtet.
Waterways Ireland dankt seinen Gästen für ihr Verständnis in dieser Angelegenheit.

Lock N1 – Temporary closure
from Monday 03 October 2022 for 3 weeks (Mon – Fri only)

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise Masters of Vessels on the Grand Canal, Naas Branch that the navigation will be closed through Lock N1 for 3 weeks from Monday 3rd October (Mon – Fri only). This is to facilitate repair works to the adjacent Osberstown Bridge parapet.

Waterways Ireland thanks Master of Vessels for their understanding in relation to this matter.

Grand Canal, Naas Branch, Lock N1 – Vorübergehende Schließung ab Montag, den 03. Oktober 2022 für 3 Wochen (nur Mo – Fr)
Waterways Ireland möchte die Schiffsführer auf dem Grand Canal, Naas Branch, darauf hinweisen, dass die Schifffahrt durch die Schleuse N1 ab Montag, dem 3. Oktober, für drei Wochen (nur Mo – Fr) geschlossen wird. Dies geschieht, um Reparaturarbeiten an der angrenzenden Osberstown Bridge zu ermöglichen.
Waterways Ireland dankt Master of Vessels für ihr Verständnis in dieser Angelegenheit.

Temporary Navigation Closure

McCartneys Lock, and the 24th Level Barrow Line

Monday 20th June to Wednesday 22nd June inclusive
Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that Lock 24, Barrow Line, Grand Canal will be temporarily closed to navigation for essential maintenance and repairs from 20th June to 22nd June 2022.
Passage on the 24th Level from Rathangan to the 24th Lock and through McCartneys Lock will not be possible during this time.

McCartneys Lock und die 24. Ebene der Barrow Line, Montag, 20. Juni bis einschließlich Mittwoch, 22. Juni
Waterways Ireland möchte Kapitäne und Eigentümer von Schiffen darauf hinweisen, dass die Schleuse 24, Barrow Line, Grand Canal, vom 20. Juni bis 22. Juni 2022 wegen notwendiger Wartungs- und Reparaturarbeiten vorübergehend für die Schifffahrt geschlossen wird.
Die Durchfahrt auf der 24. Ebene von Rathangan bis zur 24. Schleuse und durch die McCartneys Schleuse ist während dieser Zeit nicht möglich.

IWAI Events June & July 2022

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all users of the Royal Canal and Grand Canal of the following IWAI events;

- - Grand Canal – Shannon Harbour Canal Boat Rally – 24/25/26 June 2022
  - Royal Canal – Mullingar Harbour – Float to the Fleadh – 31 July to 07 Aug 2022

Please note, vessels attending these events are required to apply for a Visitors Permit, free of charge, before entering the canal network.
Masters of vessels are requested to proceed at slow speed and note any directions issued in the vicinity of the events.

Die Kapitäne der Schiffe werden gebeten, mit langsamer Geschwindigkeit zu fahren und alle Anweisungen zu beachten, die in der Nähe der Veranstaltung ausgegeben werden.

Waterways Ireland möchte die Schiffsführer auf dem Naas Branch des Grand Canal – NCB2 darauf hinweisen, dass ab dem kommenden Montag, den 14. Februar, für 6 Wochen aufgrund des Austauschs des Schleusentors und der damit verbundenen Arbeiten keine Bootsdurchfahrten möglich sind.
