SHANNON  NAVIGATION  Prohibition Electricity (Supply) ACTS 1927–1985

Waterways Ireland has been requested to advise masters and owners of the following notice issued by the ESB. The ELECTRICITY SUPPLY BOARD by virtue of the powers on that behalf vested in us by Section 106 of the Electricity (Supply) Act 1927, and all other enabling powers do hereby for the purposes of the operation of the Shannon Works and for the exercise of the powers and for the performance of the duties and functions conferred and imposed on us and notwithstanding any enactment declaring the River Shannon to be a public navigable river ORDER THAT navigation shall be and the same is hereby prohibited in or upon the navigation locks at Ardnacrusha Generating Station during the following period of time, that is to say, from Thursday November 1st 2012 to Sunday March 31st 2013 (both dates inclusive) being the period of time required by us for the purposes aforesaid and WE HEREBY DECLARE that the passage of any person with any boat, barge, lighter or other vessel in or upon the navigation locks as is hereinbefore specified shall be and the same is hereby prohibited during the period of time hereinbefore specified.
