Dublin Docklands Festival May 2017

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all users of the Grand Canal Dock, Dublin that the Dublin Docklands Festival will take place in the Dock on Sat 20 and Sun 21 May from 0900hrs until xxxx, each day
There will be a variety of water based and shore based activities ongoing throughout the two days.
Masters of craft not involved in the festival activities are requested to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash at all times and note any directions issued by the Dock Superintendent.

Rowing Regatta Fri 12 May 2017

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all users of the Grand Canal Dock, Dublin that a rowing regatta will take place in the Dock from 0900hrs until 1500hrs on Fri 121 May. The regatta course is as per the attached drawing.
Masters of other craft are requested to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash and note any directions issued by the Dock Superintendent.

Triathlon/ Open Water Swimming Training Course

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters of all craft that a swim training course will be set out upstream of OBriensbridge, Co Clare/Co Limerick . It will be in place until the end of September and will be marked by orange and white floating buoys.

Swimmers on the course will be wearing high visibility swim hats and also utilise a number of floating orange personal floats.

Training will take place:
18:30-20:00hrs on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings
08:00-10:00hrs Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
09:00-11:00hrs Saturday and Sunday mornings

Masters of all craft (including motor boats/fishing boats and rowing boats) are requested to navigate at slow speed and with a low wash when passing the area, and to exercise due care when swimmers are in the water.

Royal Canal, Grand Canal and Barrow Navigation

REMOVAL OF VESSELS FROM NAVIGATIONS

Canal Act 1986 (Bye-Laws) 1988

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that all:

a. Non permitted vessels, Article 6(8)
b. Non attended and apparently abandoned vessels, Article 6(8)
c. Doubled moored and causing obstruction (sunk/sinking), Article 27 (3) and Article 31.
d. Vessels deemed to be/likely to cause a hazard to navigation, Article 33(3)
e. Vessels moored in contravention of Article 25(1) (d).

will be moved from their current location and may be removed from canal property within two (2) weeks of this notice. Removed vessels may then be subsequently disposed of in accordance with Article 34(2).
Classes of vessels mentioned above will have a notice placed on them and then moved/removed from navigation in order to clear berths for both visiting and cruising vessels in key areas.

Triathlon Swim Training Course.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters that a Triathlon Swim Training Course is presently laid out at Coosan Point, Athlone for the summer period.
The 750m course is set out just south of the Waterways Ireland moorings and is marked by three large orange buoys.
The course will be active daily during the following times:

0800 to 1000hrs 1230 to 1400 hrs 1700 to 2030 hrs

Swimmers are requested to make themselves as visible as possible to boaters, when in the water.
Masters are requested to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash when passing the course and to note any advice given by safety boat marshals accompanying swimmers.
