ERNE NAVIGATION

ENNISKILLEN – FIREWORKS

Waterways ireland wishes to advise all masters and users of the Erne Navigation that a Fireworks display will take place at Castle Island, Enniskillen on mon 31st. Oct from 8.00 p.m. To 8.30 p.m.

Masters of Vessels are advised that there will be no mooring permitted at the Waterways Ireland Head Office mooring nor at the Henry Street Public Jetties on the day of the event in the interest of public safety. Navigation in the vicinity of Castle Island is also prohibited for the duration of the event. Alternative mooring is available at the forum and regal pass jetties with easy access to event vantage points.

Instructions from safety vessels must be adhered to at all times

Royal Canal

Ferns Lock to Clondra

Navigation Level and Proposed Dredging

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and vessel owners that from 1st November 2016 it cannot guarantee full navigation level on the Royal Canal Rural from Ferns Lock (Lock 17) to Clondra due to low rainfall levels.

Also it is proposed to dredge a section of the 17th level and now requests boat owners to move their boats off this level as soon as possible so that work may commence.

This work is expected to last until mid-Mar 2017.

Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience that this may cause its customers.

Essential Maintenance

Waterways Ireland has been advised by Rivers Agency of its intention to carry out essential maintenance works to the sluice gates at Colerain and that there will be no pedestrian access through the Cutts site .

Access to boating traffic into the upper canal into Cutts Lock will be prohibited today, Tue 25th Oct .

Temporary Closure of Henry Street Jetty

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that the Henry Street jetty, Enniskillen will be closed from Tues 1st November 2016 to Fri 23rd December 2016. This is to facilitate the construction of a replacement jetty.

Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their co-operation in this matter and regrets any inconvenience that this may cause.

27th Lock Grand Canal Tullamore

Closed to facilitate maintenance works

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that the Grand Canal will be closed to navigation from Monday 7th November 2016 to Friday 16th December 2016 to facilitate maintenance works at the 27th lock.

This closure will also entail lowering the canal water level on the Tullamore Harbour level between the 26th and 27th locks by approximately 600mm for the duration ofthe works. All masters and owners of vessels currently moored on the Tullamore level are advised to move their vessels to alternative location by the 4th November 2016.
