Triathlon Swim Training Course.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that a Triathlon Swim Training Course is presently laid out at Coosan Point, Athlone for the summer period.
The 750m course is set out just south of the Waterways Ireland moorings and is marked by three large orange buoys.
The course will be active daily when a Yellow flag is flown from a mast located on the foreshore during the following times:
0800 to 1000 hrs
1230 to 1400 hrs
1700 to 2030 hrs
Masters are requested to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash when passing the course and to note any advice given by safety boat marshals accompanying swimmers.

TRIATHY 4 June 2016

Masters and owners are advised that the TriAthy swim event will take place on 4th June between 10:30 hrs and 15:00 hrs in the Athy area of the River Barrow.

Masters of vessels are requested to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash when passing this stretch of the navigation and to heed any advice or instructions given by safety vessels.

Canal Towpath Closure for

New Construction Works

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that the Royal Canal between Drapers Bridge and Abbeyshrule Harbour will be closed from 30th May until 12th. Aug 2016 to facilitate cyclepath construction works on the south towpath.

Belleek – Rosscor Bridge

Inspection Works

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that bridge inspection works will take place from:

Mon 30 May to Fri 3 Jun, between the hours of 0800 and 2000 daily.

An underbridge inspection unit will be lowered from the bridge deck for this work and will reduce the available airdraft. No passage should be undertaken when this unit is in place.

On Thursday 2 Jun it is expected that the navigation span will be worked on and a manned safety boat will assist with the safe passing of any boat looking to navigate through the bridge. Approaching craft will be alerted to stop, the underbridge inspection unit will be raised and the craft permitted to safely pass through.

Masters are requested to note any directions and instructions from the safety boat during these operations

Sea Locks Unserviceable

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that the sea locks at the entrance to Grand Canal Basin are presently unserviceable. Work is on-going to repair them and return them to service. A further marine notice will issue.
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience that this may cause its customers.
