NEWCOMEN BRIDGE

LIFT DATES 2016 – update

The schedule of Newcomen Bridge lift dates for 2016 is now updated. Planned lifts after June have had to be cancelled until necessary upgrade works are completed. A further Marine Notice will issue to advise.

Thursday 14th April  11am – 1pm
Sunday 1st May  9am – 1pm
Saturday 28th May  9am – 1pm
Tuesday 14th June  11am – 1pm

Notes:

  1. Arrangements have been made for Irish Rail to open the bridge on the above dates / times, if there is demand.
  2. Waterways Ireland Eastern Regional Office (tel: +353(0)1 868 0148 or dublincanals@waterwaysireland.org) require 2 weeks’ notice from boaters for use of these lifts; should there not be demand (min 2 boats) for a particular date, Irish Rail will be notified by Waterways Ireland that this lift is cancelled.
  3. A maximum number of boats passing will be implemented to keep to the times given above for the planned lifts (16 for the Sat / Sun lifts & 8 for the weekday lifts)
  4. On day of lift, masters and their crew must follow guidance from Waterways Ireland staff about sequence of passage under bridge & through Lock 1, and must remain within signed and designated areas.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise that the green starboard marker buoy at the northern end of Iskeraulin Shoal has been reported missing.

Masters should proceed with due caution.

Marine Notice No:19 2016 refers. Waterways Ireland wishes to advise that Lock 3 Skelan on the Shannon-Erne Waterway is now open to boat traffic.

Marine Notice No: 19 of 2016 is now withdrawn.

Sallins Water Day 2 April 2016

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that there will be a water activity day in the Sallins Harbour area on 2 April 2016.
Masters and owners of vessels operating in the area should navigate with caution when entering the event area and comply with guidance instructions from event officials.

Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their co-operation in this matter.
