Castle Island – Water Activity Area

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters and users of the Erne System that the channel east of Castle Island, Enniskillen will be closed from 07 June 2023 to 30th September 2023.
This is to create a water activity area. The designated area will be clearly marked by floating buoys. See below layout.
Access to Castle Museum Jetty will be maintained when approaching from the north of Castle Island.
Mariners should use the navigation channel to the west of Castle Island and proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash adhering to any instructions or displayed signage. Mariners should be aware of small non-motorised craft also operating in the navigation.

Waterways Ireland möchte alle Kapitäne und Benutzer des Erne-Systems darauf hinweisen, dass der Kanal östlich von Castle Island, Enniskillen, vom 07. Juni 2023 bis zum 30. September 2023 geschlossen wird.
Damit soll ein Wasseraktivitätsgebiet geschaffen werden. Das ausgewiesene Gebiet wird durch schwimmende Bojen deutlich gekennzeichnet sein. Siehe Grundriss.
Der Zugang zum Castle Museum Jetty wird aufrechterhalten, wenn man sich von Norden der Castle Island nähert.
Seeleute sollten die Fahrrinne westlich von Castle Island benutzen und mit langsamer Geschwindigkeit und mit minimaler Aufspülung vorgehen, wobei sie sich an alle Anweisungen und angezeigten Schilder halten sollten. Die Schifffahrtsteilnehmer sollten sich der kleinen nicht motorisierten Fahrzeuge bewusst sein, die ebenfalls in der Fahrrinne verkehren.

This is to create a safe water activity space for use by clubs, events and the public.
Mariners should use the navigation channel to the west of Castle Island and proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash adhering to any instructions or displayed signage.

Open Water Swimming Race
Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that an open water swimming race will take place in Lough Key on Sat 21st Jun 2014 between 1000hrs and 1200hrs in the area adjacent to the Forest Park complex and including the waters around Castle Island.

Masters are requested to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash when passing this stretch of the navigation and note any advice given by race stewards and safety boat crew.

ERNE SYSTEM
ENNISKILLEN – CASTLE ISLAND AREA

Waterway Ireland wishes to advise masters and users of the Erne System that the channel east of Castle Island has been marked by large red buoys to facilitate water based events from Mon 2 Jun until Fri 1 Aug 2014. Vessels will still be able to navigate safely through.
On specific occasions during this time period, the area will be completely shut off by the addition of inflatable booms and strings of small yellow buoys.
Through traffic, during these times, can by-pass the area by using the channel West of Castle Island and are requested to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash when doing so.
Masters should note any advice or instructions given by event organisers when in this section of the navigation.
Public jetties in the vicinity will remain accessible throughout though some minor restrictions may be in place as and when required.
