Killaloe

Construction of new bridge across Shannon Navigation

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters of vessels that construction works have commenced on a new bridge across the Shannon Navigation approx. 1km downstream of the existing bridge.
A silt curtain has been installed in the navigation and construction works will be extending into the navigation over the 12 months.
Masters of vessels should proceed with additional caution in the vicinity of the construction works.

Bau einer neuen Brücke über die Shannon Navigation
Waterways Ireland möchte die Kapitäne von Schiffen darauf hinweisen, dass die Bauarbeiten für eine neue Brücke über die Shannon Navigation ca. 1 km stromabwärts der bestehenden Brücke begonnen haben.
In der Schifffahrt wurde ein Schlickvorhang installiert, und die Bauarbeiten werden sich in den nächsten 12 Monaten auf die Schifffahrt ausdehnen.
Die Kapitäne von Schiffen sollten in der Nähe der Bauarbeiten zusätzliche Vorsicht walten lassen.

Silver Eel Fishing

Waterways Ireland has been advised by ESB Fisheries that silver eel fishing will be taking place at Killaloe from today onwards, including setting nets in the navigation channel, between 1600hrs and 07 00hrs the following day. Nets will be removed from the water during daylight hours.

Waterways Ireland Killaloe Water Festival

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that the Killaloe Water Festival will take place both upstream and downstream of the Killaloe – Ballina town bridge and also in the vicinity of the Killaloe Canal from 1900hrs on Fri 11th. to 1800hrs on Sun 13th . Sep 2015.
Masters of vessels are requested to note the advice of marshals when passing through the area and to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash.

Water Based Events during Feile Brian Boru

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that a swimming race and dragon boat races will take place between the town bridge and the Coast Guard Station on Sun 5 July between 1500hrs and 1600hrs.
Masters are requested to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash when approaching this section of the navigation and to heed any instructions issued by the event marshals and in particular to keep a look-out for swimmers in the water.

Killaloe/Ballina to Portumna

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that motor vessel „Dolphin“ will be engaged in survey work on this section of the navigation from Thurs 26 Mar until Fri 12 Jun 2015 during the hours of daylight.
The vessel has a blue hull, white wheel house and an orange roof, its call sign is EI-PV-3.
A listening watch will be kept on Marine VHF Ch 16.
The vessel will be required to keep a set course during its work. Other craft coming upon the vessel are requested therefore to give it a wide berth as necessary.
