Waterways Ireland advises masters of vessels that Tarmonbarry Bridge is closed with immediate effect and until further notice due to an electrical fault affecting the lifting mechanism. Further updates will be issued as information becomes available.
An alternative route is available via the Camlin River and Clondra Canal. Masters must satisfy themselves as to the suitability of this route for their vessels before proceeding.
Waterways Ireland apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks its customers for their cooperation.

Waterways Ireland weist die Schiffsführer darauf hin, dass die Tarmonbarry-Brücke aufgrund eines elektrischen Defekts am Hebemechanismus mit sofortiger Wirkung und bis auf Weiteres gesperrt ist. Weitere Informationen werden veröffentlicht, sobald diese vorliegen.
Eine Ausweichroute ist über den Camlin River und den Clondra-Kanal möglich. Die Schiffsführer müssen sich vor der Weiterfahrt selbst von der Eignung dieser Route für ihre Schiffe überzeugen.
Waterways Ireland entschuldigt sich für etwaige Unannehmlichkeiten und dankt seinen Kunden für ihre Zusammenarbeit.

Industrial Action

Impact on Navigation Services

While Waterways Ireland continues to review operational plans to ensure, as far as practicable, the continuity of services across the navigations certain restrictions will be in place during the period of industrial action.
In particular passage through Waterways Ireland-operated locks and lifting bridges on the Shannon, Shannon-Erne Waterway, Grand Canal and Royal Canal as well as the Barrow Navigation will not be operational on 14 October 2026.
Masters are advised to take this into account when planning their journeys and to allow additional time for passage on adjacent days. Waterways Ireland recognises the potential disruption this may cause to boaters and will provide further information should the position change.

Waterways Ireland weist die Kapitäne von Schiffen darauf hin, dass der Betrieb der Schifffahrtsinfrastruktur von Waterways Ireland aufgrund von Arbeitskampfmaßnahmen, darunter eine geplante eintägige Arbeitsniederlegung am Mittwoch, dem 14. Oktober 2026, beeinträchtigt sein wird.
Waterways Ireland überprüft zwar weiterhin die Betriebspläne, um die Kontinuität der Dienste auf den Wasserstraßen so weit wie möglich sicherzustellen, dennoch werden während der Dauer der Arbeitskampfmaßnahmen bestimmte Einschränkungen gelten.
Insbesondere wird die Durchfahrt durch die von Waterways Ireland betriebenen Schleusen und Hubbrücken auf dem Shannon, dem Shannon-Erne-Wasserstraßenverbund, dem Grand Canal und dem Royal Canal sowie auf der Barrow-Navigation am 14. Oktober 2026 nicht möglich sein.
Schiffskapitänen wird empfohlen, dies bei der Planung ihrer Fahrten zu berücksichtigen und an den angrenzenden Tagen zusätzliche Zeit für die Durchfahrt einzuplanen. Waterways Ireland ist sich der möglichen Beeinträchtigungen für Bootsfahrer bewusst und wird weitere Informationen bereitstellen, sollte sich die Lage ändern.

Pump-Out Facilities

Waterways Ireland advises masters of vessels that:

- - - Carrybridge pump-out facility is expected to be operational from 14 October 2026.
    - Knockninny pump-out facility is expected to return to service by 26 October 2026.

Both facilities will remain operational over the winter period.

Waterways Ireland teilt den Schiffskapitänen Folgendes mit:

- - Pump-Out in Carrybridge wird voraussichtlich ab dem 14. Oktober 2026 betriebsbereit sein.
  - Pump-Out in Knockninny wird voraussichtlich bis zum 26. Oktober 2026 wieder in Betrieb genommen.

Beide Anlagen bleiben über den Winter in Betrieb.

Shannon–Erne Waterway

Winter Closure for Essential Maintenance

Issued: 09 October 2026

Waterways Ireland advises masters of vessels that sections of the Shannon–Erne Waterway will close from 2 November 2026 to facilitate essential winter maintenance works in advance of the 2027 boating season. Works and closures are as follows:
Locks 8 to 10. The Shannon–Erne Waterway between Lock 8 and Lock 10 will close from 2 November 2026 for approximately three months. Works will include:

- - Debris removal
  - Maintenance of sluices
  - Maintenance of lock gates
  - Repairs to lock masonry

Lock 1. Works at Lock 1 will commence on 16 November 2026 for approximately three months. These works will include upgrades to the existing lock hydraulic and electrical operating systems.
Masters of vessels should plan their journeys accordingly and comply with local site safety requirements. Waterways Ireland appreciates the cooperation of all waterway users while these essential works are undertaken and apologises for any inconvenience caused.

Wintersperrung der Shannon–Erne Waterways wegen notwendiger Instandhaltungsarbeiten

Waterways Ireland weist die Schiffsführer darauf hin, dass Abschnitte der Wasserwege Shannon–Erne ab dem 2. November 2026 gesperrt werden, um vor der Bootssaison 2027 notwendige winterliche Instandhaltungsarbeiten durchzuführen. Die Arbeiten und Sperrungen sind wie folgt:
Schleusen 8 bis 10. Die Shannon–Erne-Wasserstraße zwischen Schleuse 8 und Schleuse 10 wird ab dem 2. November 2026 für etwa drei Monate gesperrt. Die Arbeiten umfassen:

- - Beseitigung von Ablagerungen
  - Wartung der Schleusentore
  - Wartung der Schleusentore
  - Reparaturen am Schleusenmauerwerk

Schleuse 1. Die Arbeiten an Schleuse 1 beginnen am 16. November 2026 und dauern etwa drei Monate. Diese Arbeiten umfassen die Modernisierung der bestehenden hydraulischen und elektrischen Betriebssysteme der Schleuse.
Schiffskapitäne sollten ihre Fahrten entsprechend planen und die örtlichen Sicherheitsvorschriften einhalten. Waterways Ireland bedankt sich für die Zusammenarbeit aller Wasserstraßennutzer während der Durchführung dieser notwendigen Arbeiten und entschuldigt sich für etwaige Unannehmlichkeiten.
