Lock 1 / Corraquill Lock

temporary Closure

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters of vessels and waterway users that Lock 1 (Corraquill Lock) on the Shannon–Erne Waterway is temporarily closed with immediate effect due to unsafe high water levels, following heavy rainfall in the local catchment area.
Conditions are currently not safe for navigation through the lock. The situation is being monitored closely by Waterways Ireland staff and the lock will be reopened as soon as it is safe to do so.
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience caused and thanks users for their understanding and cooperation.

Schleuse 1 / Corraquill Lock – Vorübergehende Schließung
Waterways Ireland möchte die Kapitäne von Schiffen und die Nutzer der Wasserstraße darauf hinweisen, dass die Schleuse 1 (Corraquill Lock) auf dem Shannon-Erne Waterway aufgrund von unsicheren hohen Wasserständen nach starken Regenfällen im örtlichen Einzugsgebiet mit sofortiger Wirkung vorübergehend geschlossen ist.
Die Bedingungen sind derzeit nicht sicher für die Schifffahrt durch die Schleuse. Die Situation wird von den Mitarbeitern von Waterways Ireland genau beobachtet, und die Schleuse wird wieder geöffnet, sobald es sicher ist.
Waterways Ireland bedauert die entstandenen Unannehmlichkeiten und dankt den Nutzern für ihr Verständnis und ihre Mitarbeit.

Carrick-on-Shannon Water Supply at Public Jetties

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters of vessels and waterway users that the water supply at the public jetties in Carrick-on-Shannon is currently unavailable due to a localised leak.
Repair works are underway, and it is anticipated that the water supply will be restored by Wednesday 30 April 2025, or sooner if possible.
In the meantime, an alternative water supply is available at the Carrick-on-Shannon quay wall, adjacent to the pump-out facility.
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience this may cause and thanks users for their understanding.

Carrick-on-Shannon Wasserversorgung an öffentlichen Anlegestellen
Waterways Ireland möchte die Kapitäne von Schiffen und die Nutzer der Wasserstraße darauf hinweisen, dass die Wasserversorgung an den öffentlichen Anlegestellen in Carrick-on-Shannon aufgrund eines lokalen Lecks derzeit nicht verfügbar ist.
Die Reparaturarbeiten sind im Gange, und es wird erwartet, dass die Wasserversorgung bis Mittwoch, den 30. April 2025, oder wenn möglich früher, wiederhergestellt sein wird.
In der Zwischenzeit steht eine alternative Wasserversorgung an der Kaimauer von Carrick-on-Shannon zur Verfügung, die sich direkt neben der pump-out befindet.
Waterways Ireland bedauert alle Unannehmlichkeiten, die dadurch entstehen können, und dankt den Benutzern für ihr Verständnis.

Update – Lower Bann – Cutts Lock Reopened Update

Waterways Ireland advise users and masters of vessels that Cutts lock on the Lower Bann has now reopened.
This closure was to facilitate the refurbishment and installation of lock gates and carry out essential sluice maintenance works.
Waterways Ireland apologise to its customers for any inconvenience caused by these essential works.

Lower Bann, 16. April 2025, Update Lower Bann
Cutts Lock Reopened Update
Waterways Ireland teilt den Benutzern und Schiffsführern mit, dass die Cutts Lock am Lower Bann jetzt wieder geöffnet ist.
Die Schließung erfolgte, um die Renovierung und den Einbau von Schleusentoren zu ermöglichen und um wichtige Wartungsarbeiten an der Schleuse durchzuführen.
Waterways Ireland entschuldigt sich bei seinen Benutzern für die Unannehmlichkeiten, die durch diese notwendigen Arbeiten entstanden sind.

Grand Canal Lock 19 – Main Line

Restricted Navigation 11 April 2025

Waterways Ireland wishes to inform masters of vessels that navigation through Lock 19 (Lowtown) on the Grand Canal is currently restricted.
Masters who require passage through Lock 19 are kindly asked to contact the Waterway Patroller at 087 245 6531 to make the necessary arrangements.
Further Marine Notices will be issued as required.
Waterways Ireland thanks all waterway users for their patience and cooperation during the period of restricted navigation.

Waterways Ireland möchte die Kapitäne von Schiffen darüber informieren, dass die Durchfahrt durch Lock 19 (Lowtown) auf dem Grand Canal derzeit eingeschränkt ist.
Kapitäne, die Lock 19 passieren müssen, werden gebeten, sich mit dem Waterway Patroller unter 087 245 6531 in Verbindung zu setzen, um die notwendigen Vorkehrungen zu treffen.
Weitere Marine Notices werden bei Bedarf herausgegeben.
Waterways Ireland dankt allen Wasserstraßenbenutzern für ihre Geduld und Kooperation während der Zeit der eingeschränkten Schifffahrt.

Grand Canal – Hazard Notification

Grand Canal Re-Opened at Devonshire Bridge

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters of vessels and waterway users that initial works have been undertaken by Kildare County Council at Devonshire Bridge (located between the 13th Lock and the 14th Lock on the Grand Canal) to make the bridge safe for navigation passage underneath.
As a result, vessel navigation through this section of the Grand Canal is now permitted with caution. This follows the previous closure (Marine Notice No. 25 of 2025) which was implemented due to significant damage to the bridge resulting from a vehicle strike.
Key Safety Information:

- Vessels may now pass under Devonshire Bridge with due caution.
- Masters of vessels are advised to be alert to any ongoing works in the vicinity
- The Greenway remains open.

Grand Canal an der Devonshire Bridge wieder geöffnet.
Waterways Ireland möchte die Kapitäne von Schiffen und die Nutzer der Wasserstraße darauf hinweisen, dass der Kildare County Council an der Devonshire Bridge (zwischen der 13. und dem 14. Lock auf dem Grand Canal) erste Arbeiten durchgeführt hat, um die Brücke für die Durchfahrt von Schiffen sicher zu machen.
Infolgedessen ist die Navigation von Schiffen durch diesen Abschnitt des Grand Canal jetzt mit Vorsicht erlaubt. Dies folgt auf die vorherige Sperrung (Marine Notice No. 25 of 2025), die aufgrund erheblicher Schäden an der Brücke infolge eines Fahrzeugaufpralls verhängt wurde.
Wichtige Sicherheitsinformationen:

- Schiffe dürfen die Devonshire-Brücke jetzt mit der gebotenen Vorsicht unterqueren.
- Kapitäne von Schiffen werden gebeten, auf laufende Arbeiten in der Nähe zu achten.
- Der Greenway bleibt geöffnet.
