Marine Notice No. 24 of 2025 – Grand Canal Update No. 3

Marine Notice Update – Grand Canal & Greenway Closure at L’Estrange Bridge

Waterways Ireland advises masters of vessels and Greenway users that the Grand Canal and Greenway at L’Estrange Bridge will be closed from 18:00 on Saturday, 29 March, to 08:00 on Sunday, 30 March 2025.
During this time, vessels will not be permitted to pass under the bridge, Greenway users will not have access to the bridge, nor will there be access over the bridge.
This closure is necessary to facilitate the installation of an overbridging structure for the transport of an abnormal load destined for Shannonbridge Power Station. For the duration of the installation, operation, and deconstruction of the overbridging, the bridge will be designated as a construction site.
Waterways Ireland appreciates the understanding of all users and apologises for any inconvenience caused. Further updates will be provided in due course.

Waterways Ireland weist Kapitäne von Schiffen und Nutzer des Greenway darauf hin, dass der Grand Canal und der Greenway an der L’Estrange Bridge von Samstag, 29. März, 18:00 Uhr, bis Sonntag, 30. März 2025, 08:00 Uhr, gesperrt werden.
Während dieser Zeit dürfen Schiffe nicht unter der Brücke durchfahren, und die Benutzer des Greenway haben weder Zugang zur Brücke noch können sie die Brücke überqueren.
Die Sperrung ist notwendig, um die Installation einer Überbrückungskonstruktion für den Transport einer für das Kraftwerk Shannonbridge bestimmten anormalen Ladung zu ermöglichen. Für die Dauer der Installation, des Betriebs und des Rückbaus der Überbrückung wird die Brücke als Baustelle ausgewiesen.
Waterways Ireland bittet alle Nutzer um Verständnis und entschuldigt sich für die entstandenen Unannehmlichkeiten. Weitere Informationen werden zu gegebener Zeit bekannt gegeben.

Marine Notice Update – Grand Canal & Greenway Closure at L’Estrange Bridge

Waterways Ireland advises masters of vessels and Greenway users that the scheduled closure of the Grand Canal and Greenway at L’Estrange Bridge, originally planned from 18:00 on Saturday, 22 March, to 08:00 on Sunday, 23 March 2025, has been postponed.
The closure will no longer take place on these dates. A new Marine Notice will be issued once the operation is confirmed to proceed.
Waterways Ireland appreciates the understanding of all users and apologises for any inconvenience caused. Further updates will be provided in due course.

Aktualisierung der Hinweise für die Navigation – Sperrung des Grand Canal & Greenway an der L’Estrange-Brücke
Waterways Ireland weist Kapitäne von Schiffen und Nutzer des Greenway darauf hin, dass die ursprünglich für Samstag, den 22. März, von 18:00 Uhr bis Sonntag, den 23. März 2025, von 08:00 Uhr geplante Sperrung des Grand Canal und des Greenway an der L’Estrange-Brücke verschoben worden ist.
Die Sperrung wird zu diesen Terminen nicht mehr stattfinden. Eine neue Bekanntmachung über die Sperrung wird herausgegeben, sobald die Durchführung der Maßnahme bestätigt ist.
Waterways Ireland bittet alle Nutzer um Verständnis und entschuldigt sich für die entstandenen Unannehmlichkeiten. Weitere Informationen werden zu gegebener Zeit bekannt gegeben.

Waterways Ireland advises masters of vessels and Greenway users that navigation on the Grand Canal and access to L’Estrange Bridge will be closed from 18:00 on Saturday, 22 March, to 08:00 on Sunday, 23 March 2025. During this time, vessels will not be permitted to pass under the bridge, and Greenway users will not have access to the bridge.

This closure is necessary to facilitate the installation of an overbridging structure for the transport of an abnormal load destined for Shannonbridge Power Station. Waterways Ireland weist Kapitäne von Schiffen und Greenway-Nutzer darauf hin, dass die Schifffahrt auf dem Grand Canal und der Zugang zur L’Estrange-Brücke von Samstag, 22. März, 18:00 Uhr, bis Sonntag, 23. März 2025, 08:00 Uhr, gesperrt werden. Während dieser Zeit dürfen keine Schiffe unter der Brücke durchfahren und die Benutzer des Greenway haben keinen Zugang zur Brücke.

Service Block Closure Extended to 28 March 2025

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters of vessels and users that Dromod Harbour Service Block will remain closed until Friday 28th March due to planned construction works.
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience that this may cause and thanks its customers for their co-operation in relation to this matter.

Update – Grand Canal – Navigation Blocked at Pollagh – 19 March 2025

Waterways Ireland advises masters of vessels that navigation on the Grand Canal at Pollagh, west of Tullamore, has now fully reopened following the successful removal of a vehicle from the waterway.

Update – Grand Canal – Schifffahrt in Pollagh blockiert – 19. März 2025
Waterways Ireland teilt den Schiffsführern mit, dass die Schifffahrt auf dem Grand Canal bei Pollagh, westlich von Tullamore, nach der erfolgreichen Entfernung eines Fahrzeugs von der Wasserstraße nun wieder vollständig geöffnet ist.
Waterways Ireland bedankt sich für die Kooperation und Geduld der Wasserwegbenutzer während dieses Vorfalls.
