Marine Notice No 113 of 2013 refers.

Owners and masters are reminded that due to the continuing period of dry weather and lowering water levels on Lough Ree craft should be visited more frequently to tend to mooring lines.

Temporary Closure
PUBLIC MOORINGS

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that the public moorings immediately east and west of Sallins bridge have been closed temporarily to facilitate refurbishment works and will re-open in mid –March 2014.This area is now deemed a construction site and all users should take note of warning signs associated with these works.

Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their co-operation with this project and regrets any inconvenience caused.

Es ist kein Geheimnis, dass die aktuellen „Marine Notices“ nicht von der „IWAI“ kommen, sondern es zeichnet für die Richtigkeit und Aktualität „Waterways Ireland“ ganz alleine.
Wer schnellstens informiert sein will, der liest am besten die Marine-Mitteilungen „Online auf der Page von WI. Da gibt es die Mitteilungen sogar in deutsch. Waterways Ireland Killaloe Water Festival

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters that the Waterways Ireland Killaloe Water Festival will take place from Fri 27th until Sun 29th Sep 2013.
Festival events will take place north and south of the Killaloe – Ballina roadbridge and will involve kayaks, sailing dinghys, rowing craft, swimmers etc.
Masters of vessels are requested to note the advice of safety marshals associated with the event and on approach to the Killaloe – Ballina area to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash.
Through traffic will be catered for at intervals during the events.
Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their cooperation in this matter.

Kapitäns-Handbuch trifft auf Kapitäns-Handbücher

Captain’s Handbook meets Captain’s Handbook’s

Hier mal eine Zusammenfassung über die aktuellen Käpitäns-Handbücher, oder die wie man im englischen Spachraum sagt, „Captain’s Handbook’s“. Ich habe mal einige zusammengetragen, und es werden bestimmt noch einige folgen. Diese Handbücher gibt es in Form einer PDF-Datei kostenlos bei den Bootsvermietern zum Download, oder es liegt bereits vor Ort im Boot. Die Navigationschart (navigational guide to the shannon and erne waterway) gibt es kostenlos als Online Map im Internet, oder man kann sie sich für einen geringen Obulus bei dem Anbieter bestellen. Link zum Kauf ist auf der Seite. Bei allen mir bekannten Bootsvermietern, am Erne liegt die ErneWaterwaysChart und am Shannon liegt der NavigationsGuide zur Orientierung und Navigation auf den Booten. Ein paar Worte noch zu Waterways Ireland

Waterways Ireland (irisch: „Uiscebhealaí Éireann“) ist eine irisch-nordirische staatliche Kanal-Bewirtschaftungs-Gesellschaft und die Navigationsbehörde für gesamt Irland.

Bei Waterways Ireland handelt es sich um eine der insgesamt sechs staatlichen Behörden, die 1999 mit dem Belfast Agreement entstanden sind. Verantwortlich ist sie für die Geschäftsführung, die Wartung und die Weiterentwicklung der schiffbaren Binnengewässern von Ireland.

Zu ihrem Bereich gehören alle Flüsse (Rivers) und Loughs, Banns, Barrow und Erne, die Canalsysteme Grand Canal, Royal Canal und der ehemals Ballinamore & Ballyconnel Canal Shannon-Erne-Kanal sowie der größte River, der Shannon.

Die Hauptniederlassung von Waterways Ireland ist im nordirischen Enniskillen (Co. Fermanagh) und die weiteren Regionalbüros befinden sich in Carrick-on-Shannon, Dublin und Scarriff in der Republik Irland.

International Canoe Polo Irish Open 2013

Waterways Ireland wishes advise all users of the Royal Canal that the above event will take place in Kilcock on Sat 31st Aug and Sun 1 Sep from 0800hrs until 2000hrs.
Masters wishing to make a passage through the area can do so between 1300hrs and 1400hrs each day.
Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their cooperation with this event.
