MARINE NOTICE 125 of 2011

Grand Canal – Barrow Line

Waterways Ireland wish to advise all masters and users of craft on the Barrow Line of the Grand Canal that the canal will be closed at the 25th Lock, Monasterevin for a period of 2 weeks starting on Monday 28th November.
This closure is required to carry our essential maintenance on the lock gates and chamber.
Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their co-operation in this matter and any inconvenience caused is regretted.

Monasterevin Lifting Bridge

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all Masters and users of the Grand Canal & Barrow Navigation that the lifting bridge at Monasterevin on the Barrow Line of the Grand Canal is being replaced.

Due to unforeseen circumstances The Barrow Line remains closed to navigation and is now scheduled to be re-watered during the week ending April 23rd.
Marine Notice 18/10 also refers. Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their co-operation.

GRAND CANAL- BARROW LINE

Monasterevin Lifting Bridge

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all Masters and users of the Grand Canal & Barrow Navigation that the lifting bridge at Monasterevin on the Barrow Line of the Grand Canal is being replaced.

The Barrow Line is now closed to navigation and is scheduled to be rewatered during the week beginning March 20th however the replacement bridge will not be fully operational until April 10th and will have to be lifted manually.

Navigation between March 20th and April 10th will therefore be restricted and passage will not normally be possible at weekends or outside working hours.

Masters wishing to make a passage through the bridge are requested to make prior contact with the Lock Keeper, Mr Joe Moore, on 353-87- 2473093, for up to date information.

Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their co-operation.
