Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all Masters of vessels and water users that weed cutting will take place over the coming days on the Lecarrow Canal. This work will commence today, Friday 28th June 2024.
Masters of vessels and water users are requested to proceed with additional caution and check weed traps regularly in the vicinity of this work.
Waterways Ireland thanks all vessel owners and operators for their co-operation in relation to this matter.

The Shannon Navigation between Mountshannon Harbour and Bushy Island / Cribby Islands will be closed from 1000hrs to 1600hrs on Saturday 13th July 2024.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters and users of the Shannon Navigation of navigation and mooring restrictions in Carrick-on-Shannon to facilitate the Rowing Club Regatta on Sunday 4th August 2024.
The Regatta will be held on the 500 metres stretch of water immediately south of the town bridge commencing at 0900hrs and finishing at approx 1800hrs.
Craft wishing to make a through passage will be facilitated every 2 hrs approximately during the regatta.
Masters should note that ONLY vessels of an overall length of 22ft. / 6.8m or less will be permitted on the floating jetties from Wednesday 31st July to Sunday 4th August 2024.
This is necessary in the interest of marine safety and to facilitate the laying of the competition course.
Vessels berthed from Wednesday 31st July at 1600hrs will be required to remain in place until racing finishes at approx. 1800hrs on Sunday 4th August.
Masters are advised to proceed at slow speed and with due caution and to take note of advice from course marshals when passing through the area.

Carrick-on-Shannon – Ruderregatta, Navigations- und Liegeplatzbeschränkungen, Sonntag, 4. August 2024 Waterways Ireland möchte alle Kapitäne und Benutzer der Shannon Navigation auf Navigations- und Anlegebeschränkungen in Carrick-on-Shannon hinweisen, um die Regatta des Ruderclubs am Sonntag, den 4. August 2024 zu ermöglichen. Die Regatta wird auf der 500 Meter langen Wasserfläche unmittelbar südlich der Stadtbrücke stattfinden. Sie beginnt um 9.00 Uhr und endet um ca. 18.00 Uhr. Boote, die eine Durchfahrt wünschen, werden während der Regatta etwa alle 2 Stunden durchgelassen. Die Kapitäne sollten beachten, dass NUR Schiffe mit einer Gesamtlänge von 22ft. / 6,8m oder weniger von Mittwoch, den 31. Juli bis Sonntag, den 4. August 2024 auf den Schwimmstegen erlaubt sind. Dies ist im Interesse der Sicherheit auf See und zur Erleichterung der Verlegung des Wettkampfkurses erforderlich. Schiffe, die am Mittwoch, den 31. Juli um 16.00 Uhr angelegt haben, müssen bis zum Ende der Regatta am Sonntag, den 4. August um ca. 18.00 Uhr an ihrem Platz bleiben. Den Kapitänen wird empfohlen, mit langsamer Geschwindigkeit und mit der gebotenen Vorsicht zu fahren und die Hinweise der Streckenposten zu beachten, wenn sie das Gebiet passieren. Waterways Ireland bedankt sich bei dieser Gelegenheit bei seinen Gästen für ihre Kooperation bei diesen Vorkehrungen.
Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that the on water elements of the Brian Boru festival will take place on from Friday 5th to Sunday 7th July 2024 in the Killaloe and Ballina areas.
Water activities and times as follows:
Viking Ship (40 foot) on the water located at pontoon behind Library (Below pump out station) from 3pm on Friday 5th July to 2pm on Sunday 7th July.
Swim from Pier Head to Library on Saturday 6th July from 11pm to 12.30pm. Safety boats and Kayaks supporting this event.
Sailing taster sessions on Saturday 6th July from 12pm to 3pm below the bridge working from the Washer Woman Pontoon.
Fireworks from between the waters (Car park at the rear of the Cathedral) on Saturday 6th July from 10.30pm to 11.30pm.
Masters of vessels are requested to stay out of the river area South of the bridge from 10pm to 11.30pm on Saturday night 6th July 2024 to facilitate the fireworks display. A safety RIB will be on the water.

Juli 2024 Waterways Ireland möchte Kapitäne und Schiffseigner darauf hinweisen, dass das Brian Boru Festival von Freitag, den 5. bis Sonntag, den 7. Juli 2024 in den Gebieten Killaloe und Ballina stattfinden wird. Aktivitäten auf dem Wasser und Zeiten wie folgt:
Wikingerschiff (40 Fuß) auf dem Wasser am Ponton hinter der Bibliothek (unterhalb der Pumpstation) von 15 Uhr am Freitag, 5. Juli, bis 14 Uhr am Sonntag, 7. Juli.
Schwimmen vom Pier Head zur Bibliothek am Samstag, den 6. Juli von 11 Uhr bis 12.30 Uhr.
Sicherheitsboote und Kajaks unterstützen diese Veranstaltung.
Schnuppersegeln am Samstag, den 6. Juli von 12 bis 15 Uhr unter der Brücke, vom Ponton der Waschfrau aus.
Feuerwerk zwischen den Gewässern (Parkplatz hinter der Kathedrale) am Samstag, den 6. Juli von 22.30 bis 23.30 Uhr.
Die Kapitäne von Schiffen werden gebeten, sich am Samstagabend, den 6. Juli 2024 von 22.00 bis 23.30 Uhr aus dem Flussbereich südlich der Brücke fernzuhalten, um das Feuerwerk zu ermöglichen. Ein Sicherheits-RIB wird auf dem Wasser sein.

Water levels are expected to continue to lower in the coming weeks.
Masters of vessels, particularly those with deep drafts, are advised to navigate with additional caution and to remain within the navigation at all times.
