Shannon Navigation: Lough Allen Canal closure between Drumleague Lock and Acres Lake
Waterways Ireland wish to inform vessel masters and waterways users that the Lough Allen Canal between Drumleague Lock and Acres Lake is closed until further notice due to fallen tress across the canal following the recent storm. Works to remove the fallen trees will commence shortly.
Waterways Ireland apologises and thanks its customers for their cooperation.

Waterways Ireland möchte Schiffskapitäne und Wasserstraßennutzer darüber informieren, dass der Lough Allen Canal zwischen Drumleague Lock und Acres Lake bis auf Weiteres gesperrt ist, da nach dem jüngsten Sturm Bäume über den Kanal gefallen sind. Die Arbeiten zur Beseitigung der umgestürzten Bäume werden in Kürze beginnen.
Waterways Ireland entschuldigt sich und bedankt sich bei seinen Kunden für ihre Zusammenarbeit.

Royal Canal – 17th Level,

Hill of Down Navigation Closure

Waterways Ireland advises masters of vessels and waterway users that the Royal Canal will be closed to navigation on the 17th Level, approximately 500m east of Hill of Down Bridge, to facilitate emergency works.

The closure will take effect from Monday 13 October 2025 and remain in place until Monday 19 January 2026.

RC – 17. Level, Hill of Down Navigation Closure
Waterways Ireland weist Schiffsführer und Wasserstraßenbenutzer darauf hin, dass der Royal Canal auf dem 17. Level, etwa 500 m östlich der Hill of Down Bridge, für die Schifffahrt gesperrt wird, um Notfallarbeiten zu ermöglichen.
Die Sperrung tritt am Montag, dem 13. Oktober 2025, in Kraft und bleibt bis Montag, dem 19. Januar 2026, bestehen.

Waterways Ireland advises masters of vessels and waterway users that the Shannon–Erne-Waterway is closed from Lock 1 to Lock 16 until further notice due to high water levels.
Several locks in this section have overtopped, creating hazardous conditions. All vessels currently moored along this stretch are to remain within their current level or in situ. Waterways Ireland Patrollers will be on site to provide local updates and advice directly to boaters.

Waterways Ireland weist Schiffsführer und Nutzer der Waterways darauf hin, dass der Shannon–Erne-Waterway aufgrund des hohen Wasserstands bis auf Weiteres von Lock 1 bis Lock 16 gesperrt ist.
Mehrere Locks in diesem Abschnitt sind überflutet, was zu gefährlichen Bedingungen führt. Alle derzeit entlang dieser Strecke festgemachten Schiffe müssen auf ihrem aktuellen Niveau oder an Ort und Stelle bleiben. Patrouillen von Waterways Ireland werden vor Ort sein, um Bootsfahrer direkt mit aktuellen Informationen und Ratschlägen zu versorgen.

Shannon-Erne Waterway

Shannon–Erne Waterway Closure Keshcarrigan to Lock 1

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters of vessels and waterway users that the Shannon–Erne Waterway is closed to navigation from Keshcarrigan to Lock 1 until further notice due to high water levels.

Several locks in this section have overtopped, creating hazardous conditions. All vessels currently moored along this stretch are to remain within their current level or in situ. Waterways Ireland Patrollers will be on site to provide local updates and advice directly to masters.
Masters of vessels are further advised of the following hazards:

- Several fixed jetties are submerged.
- The air draft at several bridges is substantially reduced due to elevated water levels.
- Mooring lines should be monitored, particularly on fixed jetties, as water levels continue to rise.
- Conditions along this section are hazardous, with fast-flowing water.

Waterways Ireland möchte Schiffsführer und Wasserstraßennutzer darauf hinweisen, dass der Shannon-Erne-Waterway aufgrund des hohen Wasserstands bis auf Weiteres von Keshcarrigan bis Lock 1 für die Schifffahrt gesperrt ist.
Mehrere Locks in diesem Abschnitt sind überflutet, was zu gefährlichen Bedingungen führt. Alle derzeit entlang dieser Strecke festgemachten Schiffe müssen auf ihrem aktuellen Niveau oder an Ort und Stelle bleiben. Patrouillen von Waterways Ireland werden vor Ort sein, um Kapitäne direkt vor Ort mit aktuellen Informationen und Ratschlägen zu versorgen.
Schiffsführer werden außerdem auf folgende Gefahren hingewiesen:

- Mehrere feste Anlegestellen sind überflutet.
- Die Durchfahrtshöhe unter mehreren Brücken ist aufgrund des erhöhten Wasserstands erheblich reduziert.
- Die Festmacherleinen sollten überwacht werden, insbesondere an festen Anlegestellen, da der Wasserstand weiter steigt.
- Die Bedingungen entlang dieses Abschnitts sind aufgrund der starken Strömung gefährlich.

Commercial Filming Activity – River Shannon, Athlone Town

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters of vessels and waterway users that access to Athlone Watergate Jetties (upstream from Athlone Boat Club) will be closed from Monday 6 October to Friday 10 October 2025 to facilitate commercial filming activity. Waterway users are asked to note:

- Navigation on the River Shannon through Athlone will remain open during this period.
- Be aware of additional vessel movements supporting filming between the Motorway Bridge and Athlone Lock.
- Approval has been granted for the installation of a temporary jetty on the western bank by the railway bridge to facilitate filming.
- Filming activity involving the use of drones has been endorsed for Friday 10 October 2025.

Kommerzielle Filmaufnahmen – Fluss Shannon, Stadt Athlone
Waterways Ireland möchte Schiffskapitäne und Wasserstraßennutzer darauf hinweisen, dass der Zugang zu den Athlone Watergate Jetties (stromaufwärts vom Athlone Boat Club) vom Montag, 6. Oktober, bis Freitag, 10. Oktober 2025, aufgrund kommerzieller Filmaufnahmen gesperrt ist. Wasserstraßennutzer werden gebeten, Folgendes zu beachten:

- Die Navigationauf dem Fluss Shannon durch Athlone bleibt während dieses Zeitraums geöffnet.
- Bitte beachten Sie zusätzliche Schiffsbewegungen im Zusammenhang mit den Dreharbeiten zwischen der Motorway Bridge und der Athlone Lock.
- Für die Errichtung eines temporären Anlegers am Westufer neben der Eisenbahnbrücke wurde eine Genehmigung erteilt, um die Dreharbeiten zu ermöglichen.
- Für Freitag, den 10. Oktober 2025, wurden Dreharbeiten unter Einsatz von Drohnen genehmigt.
