The Shannon Navigation between Mountshannon Harbour and Bushy Island / Cribby Islands will be closed from 1030hrs to 1600hrs on Saturday 22 July 2023.

In river works for Killaloe By-pass bridge, from 4th July 2023
Waterways Ireland wishes to inform Masters of vessels on the Shannon Navigation that the in river works for the construction of the Killaloe By-Pass bridge is progressing as planned and will continue for several months until December 2023. The bridge is being constructed approx.
1km downstream of the current Killaloe – Ballina bridge.
Navigation channel and barge / pontoon locations
A buoyed navigational channel will be provided for 100 metres either side of the in river works.
The following Plant & Equipment will be operating on the navigation during the in river works:
Jack up piling barge 22m x 17m x 2.44m
Stabilising Crane Barge 30m x 23m x 1.88m

Tugboat / pusher boat Tiger 2

Three bridge piers will be constructed in the navigation. A group of 10 piles have been installed in the river on the east side and a group of 10 piles have been installed on the west side. The barges and piling rig will be operating in the centre of the river from 4th July 2023.
Masters of vessels are requested to proceed at slow speed (5 knots, no wash), with additional caution in the vicinity of the works and to follow the instructions of the safety boat crew as there are hazards such as steel piles and mooring lines to navigate.

Shannon Navigation, Killaloe und Ballina Bauarbeiten an der Umgehungsbrücke von Killaloe im Fluss, ab 4. Juli 2023 Waterways Ireland möchte die Kapitäne der Schiffe auf der Shannon Navigation darüber informieren, dass die Flussarbeiten für den Bau der Killaloe-Bypass-Brücke wie geplant voranschreiten und mehrere Monate bis Dezember 2023 andauern werden. Die Brücke wird ca. 1 km flussabwärts von der derzeitigen Brücke Killaloe – Ballina gebaut. Eine betonnte Fahrrinne wird auf einer Länge von 100 m beiderseits der Arbeiten im Fluss eingerichtet. Die folgenden Anlagen und Ausrüstungen werden während der Bauarbeiten in der Fahrrinne eingesetzt:

Drei Brückenpfeiler werden in der Schifffahrt errichtet. Eine Gruppe von 10 Pfählen wurde im Fluss auf der Ostseite und eine Gruppe von 10 Pfählen auf der Westseite installiert. Die Lastkähne und die Pfahlramme werden ab dem 4. Juli 2023 in der Mitte des Flusses in Betrieb sein. Die Kapitäne der Schiffe werden gebeten, mit langsamer Geschwindigkeit (5 Knoten, keine Waschanlage) zu fahren, in der Nähe der Arbeiten zusätzliche Vorsicht walten zu lassen und den Anweisungen der Besatzung des Sicherheitsbootes Folge zu leisten, da Gefahren wie Stahlpfähle und Festmacherleinen zu umfahren sind. Public Consultation on the introduction of revised Canals and Shannon Navigation Bye Laws
19 June to 02 October 2023
Waterways Ireland is inviting members of the public and interested parties to have their say on proposed revisions to the Shannon Navigation and Canals bye-laws by making a submission to a public consultation, which opens on Monday 19 June 2023.
The consultation covers the Shannon Navigation (including the Shannon-Erne Waterway) and the Royal and Grand canals and the Barrow Line & Navigation. The consultation runs from 19th June to 2nd October 2023.
There are three main ways in which you can learn about the proposed changes and participate in the public consultation.
Public Meetings are planned where staff will provide information on the revisions and feedback can be given.

Visit a public library on the list on our website www.waterwaysireland.org and review the documents in person.
Feedback is welcome using the link on the website, or you can:

Following the public consultation, Waterways Ireland will review the submissions make any necessary changes to the byelaws and submit them to the Minister for approval to proceed.
The closing date for submissions to the public consultation is Monday, 2nd October 2023.

Öffentliche Konsultation zur Einführung der überarbeiteten Canals and Shannon Navigation Bye Laws 19. Juni bis 02. Oktober 2023 Waterways Ireland lädt die Öffentlichkeit und interessierte Parteien ein, sich zu den vorgeschlagenen Änderungen der Shannon Navigation und der Canals bye-laws zu äußern, indem sie sich an einer öffentlichen Konsultation beteiligen, die am Montag, den 19. Juni 2023 beginnt. (Siehe oben) Die Konsultation betrifft die Shannon Navigation (einschließlich der Shannon-Erne-Wasserstraße), den Royal und Grand Canal sowie die Barrow Line & Navigation. Die Konsultation läuft vom 19. Juni bis zum 2. Oktober 2023.
