Royal and Grand Canals

BOAT PASSAGE IN and OUT OF DUBLIN

Marine Notice No 7 refers. Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that passages into and out of Dublin are presently suspended in light of recent anti-social behaviour which has given rise to safety concerns for boaters and staff alike.
The present arrangements are being reviewed to ensure that there is adequate security to ensure safety for all concerned and that passages can be resumed at the earliest opportunity.

University Sailing Event

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters and owners of vessels that the above event will take palce in the vicinity of Murray’s Bay, Carrick-on-Shannon on Sat 8 and Sun 9 Oct from 0900hrs to 1730hrs daily.
Masters are requested to give a wide berth, obey the „Rule of the Road“ with respect to sailing craft and observe all directions issued from the safety boats in attendance.
Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their cooperation in this matter.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters and owners of vessels that intermittent diving operations will take place at Lanesboro Bridge on Mon 26 September.
Delays may be experienced. Masters are requested to give a wide berth and observe all directions issued from the safety boat in attendance.

Shannon-Erne Waterway

Ballinamore Lock 4, Aghoo,

Intended Closure for Works on Friday 23 September

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that Lock 4, Aghoo, Ballinamore on the Shannon-Erne Waterway will be closed to boat traffic on Friday 23rd September 2016 for unscheduled repair works.
The lock will be closed from 09:00 and will remain closed until repair works are completed. It is anticipated that works will be completed and the lock reopened in the afternoon.
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience that this may cause and thanks its customers for their cooperation in this matter.

SHANNON NAVIGATION

Victoria Lock, Meelick

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise that it may be necessary for operational reasons to lower the minimum water level on the upstream sill at Victoria Lock, Meelick from 1.80 metres to approximately 1.65 metres at certain times over the coming weeks.

Masters of vessels with a deep draft that could potentially be affected by this change are advised to contact the lock keeper at Victoria Lock, Meelick, tel. number 00 353 (0) 57 915 1359.
