ERNE NAVIGATION

ENNISKILLEN – FIREWORKS

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters and users of the erne navigation that a fireworks display will take place at castle island, Enniskillen on Thursday 31st October 2013 from 8.00 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.
masters of vessels are advised that there will be no mooring permitted at the Waterways Ireland head office mooring nor at the henry street public jetties on the day of the event in the interest of public safety. navigation in the vicinity of castle island is also prohibited for the duration of the event. alternative mooring is available at the forum and regal pass jetties with easy access to event vantage points.
instructions from safety vessels must be adhered to at all times further information may be had from the lough erne manager/ warden at Waterways Ireland’s head office

Flow Measurements

Waterways Ireland has been advised by the OPW of their intention to take flow measurements from Athlone Town Bridge today Fri 25 Oct and also on Tues 29 Oct.
These measurements will hinder passage through the navigational arch but only for short periods of time. Masters should approach the bridge with due caution and be prepared to delay their passage until the navigation is clear.
Masters are further requested to note any advice or instructions issued by OPW staff involved in the measurement operation. Contact number: 353-(0)868112267.

Temporary Closure

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that from Monday, November 4th 2013 to February 2014 the Grand Canal will be closed to navigation on the 13th Level, downstream of Ponsonby Bridge near Ardclough, Co. Kildare due to works by Kildare County Council associated with the laying of a watermain.
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience this may cause our customers.

Head of River Rowing  Event

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and boat owners that the above event will take place on Sat 16 Nov 2013 from 0900hrs to 1500hrs between Seaton’s Marina and Bann Rowing Club Boathouse, Coleraine
Masters are requested to note any advice issued by race marshals when approaching the course and to travel at slow speed and with minimum wash as race craft are easily capsized by a vessel’s wash.

Lower Bann Navigation

Underwater Lock Inspections

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that there may be some delay when passing through locks on the Lower Bann for the next week as Waterways Ireland will be conducting underwater surveys at all locks. Users should proceed with due caution and note works signage and the instructions of lock keepers when approaching locks.
