Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that a shoal area has been reported approximately 100ft / 30m north of the starboardhand mark at the northern end of Inchturk Island.
Masters are requested to give this mark a wide berth until further notice.

Waterways Ireland wishes advise all users of the Royal Canal that the above event will take place in Kilcock on Sat 31st Aug and Sun 1 Sep from 0800hrs until 2000hrs.
Masters wishing to make a passage through the area can do so between 1300hrs and 1400hrs each day.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all Masters and users that in order to facilitate the annual Longford marathon road race on Sun 25 Aug 2012 lifting bridge operations will be restricted accordingly.
The following air draft restrictions will apply to the lifting bridges, which will be closed during the time periods indicated below.
Shannon Navigation – Rooskey Bridge (12.30 hrs to 14.30 hrs)
The air draft at Roosky Bridge at Ordinary Summer Level is 10ft (3.025m). There is an air draft gauge erected at the bridge on both Upper and Lower approaches. The Lock keeper can be contacted during lock opening hours at 00 (0)71 96 38018 for further information.
Shannon Navigation – Tarmonbarry Bridge (11.30 hrs to 13.00 hrs)
The air draft at Tarmonbarry at Ordinary Summer Level is 7’9″ (2.35m). The Lock keeper can be contacted during lock opening hours at 00 (0)43 3326117 or 087-9222020 for further information.
Royal Canal – Begnagh Bridge
The bridge will be closed from 10.15hrs to 12.15 hrs. The Lock keeper may be contacted on 00-(0)87-9151400.

Waterways Ireland Triathlon Swimming Event
Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters that the swimming element of the Lough Key Triathlon event will take place in the vicinity of Castle Island and the Forest Park recreational facilities in Lough Key on Sun 8th Sep from 0900 hrs until 1200 hrs.
Masters of vessels are requested to note the advice of marshals when passing near the swimming course and to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash.

MARINE NOTICE No. 97 of 2013 Royal Canal – Dublin Towpath Closure
Level 1 – Binns Bridge to Russell St
Waterways Ireland wishes to advise that the above section of canal towpath on Level 1 of the Royal Canal Dublin has been closed to the public due to a wall slippage that occurred following heavy rainfall on Wednesday night.
Electrical and gas services run along the towpath so it has been closed as a precautionary measure until repairs are carried out. However, navigation will remain open as normal throughout this period.
Waterways Ireland apologises to its customers for any inconvenience caused.

ROYAL AND GRAND CANALS
AND BARROW NAVIGATION
LOW WATER LEVELS AND WEEDGROWTH CAUTIONARY WARNING
Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters and users of the Royal and Grand Canals and Barrow Navigation that due to the prolonged dry and warm weather, water levels have fallen in recent weeks and weedgrowth accelerated on the waterways. Masters of vessels, particularly those with deep drafts, are advised to proceed with due caution when navigating the Royal and Grand Canals and Barrow Navigation. Additional time should be factored in to complete longer journeys.
Should any further updates on specific areas be necessary, these will issue as separate notices.
