Grand Canal Greenway Phase 2

Site Investigation works on towpath from 18 April 2023 for 8 weeks

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise Masters of Vessels and users of the Grand Canal that ground investigation works commenced for the Kildare County Council Grand Canal Greenway Phase 2 on 18th April 2023. The works are expected to last for approx. 8 weeks.
The towpaths shall mostly remain open for public use for the duration of the works but intermittent closures will be necessary during trial hole excavations. Advance warning signage will be erected on the towpath to warn the public of any closure. Boat navigation will not be affected.
Waterways Ireland thanks Master of Vessels and canal users for their understanding in relation to this matter.

Bodenuntersuchungsarbeiten auf dem Treidelpfad ab 18. April 2023 für 8 Wochen
Waterways Ireland möchte die Schiffsführer und Nutzer des Grand Canal darauf hinweisen, dass am 18. April 2023 die Bodenuntersuchungsarbeiten für den Grand Canal Greenway Phase 2 des Kildare County Councils begonnen haben. Die Arbeiten werden voraussichtlich ca. 8 Wochen dauern.
Die Treidelpfade werden für die Dauer der Arbeiten größtenteils für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich bleiben, doch werden während der Probebohrungen zeitweise Sperrungen erforderlich sein. Auf dem Treidelpfad werden Vorwarnschilder aufgestellt, um die Öffentlichkeit vor einer Sperrung zu warnen. Die Schifffahrt wird nicht beeinträchtigt.
Waterways Ireland dankt den Schiffsführern und Kanalbenutzern für ihr Verständnis in dieser Angelegenheit.

Ownership of Waterfront jetty by Waterways Ireland

Application of Shannon Navigation Bye Laws

Waterways Ireland wishes to inform masters of vessels and waterway users on the Shannon Erne Waterways that the Waterfront jetty in Leitrim Village is now owned and managed by Waterways Ireland. This jetty is located upstream of the slipway on the northern side of the waterway.
The Shannon Navigation Bye Laws apply to this jetty from 17 April 2023.
Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their co-operation in relation to this matter.

Waterways Ireland ist Eigentümerin der Waterfront-Anlegerplätze, Anwendung der Shannon Navigation Bye Laws
Waterways Ireland möchte die Kapitäne von Schiffen und die Nutzer des Shannon Erne Waterways darüber informieren, dass die Waterfront-Anlegestelle in Leitrim Village jetzt im Besitz von Waterways Ireland ist und von diesem verwaltet wird. Diese Anlegestelle befindet sich stromaufwärts der Helling auf der Nordseite des Wasserweges.
Die Shannon Navigation Bye Laws gelten für diese Anlegestelle ab dem 17. April 2023.
Waterways Ireland dankt seinen Gästen für ihre Kooperation in dieser Angelegenheit.

Emergency repair works to lock gates
Waterways Ireland wishes to inform masters of vessels and waterway users that Drumleague Lock will be closed from Tuesday 18th April 2023 until Saturday 29th April 2023 to facilitate emergency repair works to the lock gates.
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience that this may cause and thanks its customers for their co-operation in relation to this matter.

Notreparaturarbeiten an den Schleusentoren
Waterways Ireland möchte die Kapitäne von Schiffen und die Nutzer der Wasserstraße darüber informieren, dass die Drumleague-Schleuse von Dienstag, den 18. April 2023, bis Samstag, den 29. April 2023, geschlossen wird, um Notreparaturarbeiten an den Schleusentoren durchzuführen.
Waterways Ireland bedauert die damit verbundenen Unannehmlichkeiten und dankt seinen Kunden für ihre Kooperation in dieser Angelegenheit.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters of vessels and users of the Lower Bann navigation Carnroe Lock is open to navigation after repair works.
Masters of Vessels are advised that water levels between Carnroe Weir and the The Cutts are currently high.

Waterways Ireland möchte alle Kapitäne von Schiffen und Nutzer der Lower Bann Navigation darauf hinweisen, dass die Carnroe Schleuse nach Reparaturarbeiten wieder für die Schifffahrt geöffnet ist.
Die Schiffsführer werden darauf hingewiesen, dass der Wasserstand zwischen dem Carnroe Weir und The Cutts derzeit hoch ist.

In river works for Killaloe By-pass bridge From Monday 17 April 2022

Waterways Ireland wishes to inform Masters of vessels on the Shannon Navigation that the in river works for the construction of the Killaloe By-Pass bridge will commence on 17th April 2023 and are expected to continue for several months until December 2023. The bridge is being constructed approx. 1km downstream of the current Killaloe – Ballina bridge.
The following Plant & Equipment will be operating on the navigation during the in river works:

- - Jack up piling barge 22m x 17m x 2.44m
  - Stabilising Crane Barge 30m x 23m x 1.88m
  - Piling Rig 85t
  - Crawler Crane 130t
  - Tugboat / pusher boat Tiger 2
  - Dumb barge 23m x 9m
  - Landing Craft
  - Safety Boat
  - Landing pontoon + gangways

Piling will commence on 2nd May 2023 with three bridge piers being constructed in the navigation by December 2023.
A buoyed navigation channel will be provided for 100 metres either side of the in river works from 14 April 2023. The navigation channel will be to the west side of the barges / pontoons from 17 April 2023 to 31 May 2023 as shown on the diagram below.
Masters of vessels are requested to proceed at slow speed and with additional caution in the vicinity of the works and to follow the instructions of the safety boat crew.

Bauarbeiten an der Killaloe-Umgehungsbrücke im Fluss, Ab Montag, 17. April 2022
Waterways Ireland möchte die Kapitäne von Schiffen auf der Shannon Navigation darüber informieren, dass die Arbeiten für den Bau der Killaloe-Bypass-Brücke am 17. April 2023 beginnen und voraussichtlich mehrere Monate bis Dezember 2023 andauern werden. Die Brücke wird ca. 1 km stromabwärts der derzeitigen Killaloe-Ballina-Brücke gebaut.
Die folgenden Anlagen und Ausrüstungen werden während der Bauarbeiten im Fluss eingesetzt:

- - Rammkahn 22m x 17m x 2,44m
  - Stabilisierungskran-Kahn 30m x 23m x 1,88m
  - Rammgerüst 85t
  - Raupenkran 130t
  - Schlepper / Schubschiff Tiger 2
  - Schleppkahn 23m x 9m
  - Landungsboot
  - Sicherheitsboot
  - Anlegeponton + Laufstege

Die Rammarbeiten werden am 2. Mai 2023 beginnen und bis Dezember 2023 werden drei Brückenpfeiler in der Schifffahrt errichtet.
Ab dem 14. April 2023 wird eine betonnte Fahrrinne auf einer Länge von 100 m beiderseits der Arbeiten im Fluss eingerichtet. Die Fahrrinne befindet sich vom 17. April 2023 bis zum 31. Mai 2023 auf der Westseite der Kähne/Pontons, wie in der nachstehenden Abbildung dargestellt.
Die Kapitäne von Schiffen werden gebeten, in der Nähe der Arbeiten mit langsamer Geschwindigkeit und erhöhter Vorsicht zu fahren und den Anweisungen der Sicherheitsbootbesatzung Folge zu leisten.
