End of Winter Mooring Period

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise Masters of vessels that the winter mooring period will end on 31 Mar 2023.
Shannon Navigation Bye-law No. 17(3) will apply i.e. vessels should not berth in the same harbour for longer than the statutory period of 5 consecutive days nor more than a total of 7 days in any one month.

Öffentliche Häfen, Ende der Winterliegezeit
Waterways Ireland möchte die Kapitäne von Schiffen darauf hinweisen, dass die Winterliegezeit am 31. März 2023 enden wird.
Es gilt die Shannon Navigation Bye-law Nr. 17(3), d.h. Schiffe dürfen nicht länger als die gesetzlich vorgeschriebene Zeit von 5 aufeinanderfolgenden Tagen oder mehr als insgesamt 7 Tage in einem Monat im selben Hafen anlegen.

Disposal of vessels removed from Waterways Ireland navigations

April 2023

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise Masters of Vessels and interested parties of the intended disposal of a number of vessels, by public tender, which were removed from Waterways Ireland navigations.
Ten (10) vessels are presently stored by Waterways Ireland at Shannon Harbour, Co Offaly and at Munster Harbour near Portumna.
All vessels may be inspected (externally only) between 11:00 hrs and 16:00 hrs on Sat 01 April 2023.
Tender and relevant documentation is available from www.waterwaysireland.org/about-us/tenders or by contacting the Inspectorate office, Waterways Ireland, Harbour Street, Tullamore, Co. Offaly. Phone 057-9325019
Sealed tenders should reach Assistant Inspector of Navigation at the above address not later than 12 noon on Friday 21 April 2023. Please note only postal submissions will be accepted.
A condition of sale is that vessels be removed from Waterways Ireland Property once purchased.

Veräußerung von Schiffen, die aus der Schifffahrt von Waterways Ireland entfernt wurden. April 2023
Waterways Ireland möchte die Kapitäne von Schiffen und andere Interessierte über die beabsichtigte Veräußerung einer Reihe von Schiffen informieren, die im Rahmen einer öffentlichen Ausschreibung aus den Schifffahrtswegen von Waterways Ireland entfernt wurden.
Zehn (10) Schiffe werden derzeit von Waterways Ireland im Shannon Harbour, Co Offaly, und im Munster Harbour bei Portumna gelagert.
Alle Schiffe können am Samstag, den 01. April 2023 zwischen 11:00 und 16:00 Uhr (nur von außen) besichtigt werden.

Closure of Navigation

Repairs to Overheard Power, Lines on Thursday 6th April 2023

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise Masters of vessels and water users of the Shannon Navigation that overhead line repair works will take place at Ballyleague on Thursday 6th April 2023.
To enable the repair works to be completed, the navigation channel will be temporarily closed on the morning of Thursday 6th April 2023 for 2 hours.
There will be safety boats in place for the duration of the repair works. Masters of vessels are requested to observe the instructions of safety boat crew during this repair work.
Waterways Ireland thanks all vessel owners and operators for their co-operation in relation to this matter.

Ballyleague, Repairs to Overheard Power Lines

Reparaturen an überlasteten Stromleitungen, Donnerstag, 6. April 2023
Waterways Ireland möchte die Kapitäne von Schiffen und die Wasserbenutzer der Shannon Navigation darauf hinweisen, dass am Donnerstag, den 6. April 2023, in Ballyleague Reparaturarbeiten an Freileitungen durchgeführt werden.
Damit die Reparaturarbeiten abgeschlossen werden können, wird die Fahrrinne am Donnerstag, den 6. April 2023, morgens für 2 Stunden vorübergehend geschlossen.
Für die Dauer der Reparaturarbeiten werden Sicherheitsboote vor Ort sein. Die Kapitäne der Schiffe werden gebeten, den Anweisungen der Besatzung der Sicherheitsboote während der Reparaturarbeiten Folge zu leisten.
Waterways Ireland dankt allen Schiffseignern und -betreibern für ihre Kooperation in dieser Angelegenheit.

Emergency repairs to Overheard Power Lines, Sat 25th March 2023

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise Masters of vessels and water users that emergency overhead line repair works are planned between Castle Island and the West Shoreline on Saturday 25th March 2023 from 1000hrs to 1500hrs.
To enable the repair works to be completed, the navigation channel between Castle Island and the West Shoreline of the River Erne will be temporarily closed on Saturday 25th March 2023 from 1000hrs to 1500hrs.
There will be safety boats in place for the duration of the repair works. The navigation channel between Castle Island and the East Shoreline will remain open.
Waterways Ireland thanks all vessel owners and operators for their co-operation in relation to this matter.

Für die Dauer der Reparaturarbeiten werden Sicherheitsboote vor Ort sein. Die Fahrrinne zwischen Castle Island und dem Ostufer bleibt offen.

Grand Canal

Tullamore

Lock 26 to Lock 27

Lowered water levels from Monday 27th to Friday 31st March 2023

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise Masters of Vessels and users of the Grand Canal at Tullamore that canal works between Lock 26 and Lock 27 will commence on Monday 27 March 2023.The water level on the Grand Canal between Lock 26 and Lock 27 will be lowered.
All vessels between Locks 26 and 27 on the Grand Canal in Tullamore (including the branch line to Tullamore harbour) should relocate from that canal level by 27 March 2023.
Navigation through Tullamore on the Grand Canal will be restricted from 27 to 31 March 2023. Masters of vessels should contact Waterways Ireland prior to undertaking passage on the Grand Canal between Locks 26 and 27 during the works.

Abgesenkte Wasserstände von Montag, 27. bis Freitag, 31. März 2023
Waterways Ireland möchte die Schiffsführer und Nutzer des Grand Canal in Tullamore darauf hinweisen, dass am Montag, den 27. März 2023, Kanalarbeiten zwischen Schleuse 26 und Schleuse 27 beginnen werden.
Der Wasserstand des Grand Canal zwischen Schleuse 26 und Schleuse 27 wird abgesenkt.
Alle Schiffe zwischen den Schleusen 26 und 27 auf dem Grand Canal in Tullamore (einschließlich der Zweiglinie zum Hafen von Tullamore) sollten bis zum 27. März 2023 von diesem Kanalpegel umziehen.
Die Schifffahrt durch Tullamore auf dem Grand Canal wird vom 27. bis 31. März 2023 eingeschränkt sein. Die Kapitäne von Schiffen sollten Waterways Ireland kontaktieren, bevor sie den Grand Canal zwischen den Schleusen 26 und 27 während der Arbeiten befahren.
