Green Buoy Adrift

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters that a green coloured buoy marking the Defence Forces firing range situated immediately north of Cribby Islands on Lough Ree has broken its mooring and drifted north in the direction of  Warren Point where it is reported aground.
Masters are requested to keep a good look-out when in this part of the navigation in case the buoy continues to drift further.

Owners and masters are reminded that due to the continuing period of dry weather and lowering water levels on Lough Ree craft should be visited more frequently to tend to mooring lines.

Temporary Closure
PUBLIC MOORINGS

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that the public moorings immediately east and west of Sallins bridge have been closed temporarily to facilitate refurbishment works and will re-open in mid –March 2014.This area is now deemed a construction site and all users should take note of warning signs associated with these works.

Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their co-operation with this project and regrets any inconvenience caused.

Cautionary Warning – Low Water Levels

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters that due to the prolonged spell of dry weather water levels on Lough Ree have fallen below normal summer level.
Masters of vessels and particularly those of deep drafted vessels should navigate with due caution and at an appropriate speed to avoid striking the bottom.

Shoal Area Reported.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that a shoal area has been reported approximately 100ft / 30m north of the starboardhand mark at the northern end of Inchturk Island.
Masters are requested to give this mark a wide berth until further notice.
