Athlone Boat Club Regatta

Marine Notice No 51 of 2014 refers.

Masters and users of the Shannon Navigation are advised that the south eastern mooring at Coosan Pt, Killenure Lough will be out of bounds to all craft from Fri 13th until Mon 16th. Jun to facilitate the laying of the Athlone Boat Club rowing regatta course and the running of the races which will finish in close proximity to this mooring.

Triathlon Event Swimming Element – Sat 7 Jun 2014

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and users of the Shannon Navigation that a triathlon event will take place on Sat 7 Jun in the environs of Portrunny harbour and that the swimming course will be laid out adjacent to the moorings.
The course will be active from 11.30 a.m until 1 p.m
Swimmers on the course they will be accompanied by a safety boat and kayaks .
Masters are requested to give swimmers a wide berth and to navigate at slow speed and with a low wash when passing the area and to heed any instructions or advice given by the event marshals.

Fish Stock Abundance Survey

Waterways Ireland has been advised by Inland Fisheries Ireland that it will conduct a fish stock abundance survey at various locations on Lough Ree commencing on Mon 24th Feb and finishing on Fri 14th. Mar 2014.
This will be a netting survey undertaken by five craft  and nets will be marked by yellow buoys showing the words „Inland Fisheries Ireland Survey“, nets will be reset daily between Mon and Fri of each week.
Masters are requested to keep a good lookout when navigating Lough Ree during this period and to give a wide berth to survey nets if encountered during passage.

Green Starboard Cage Buoy Off Station

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise owners and masters that the Green Starboard Cage Buoy located between Coosan Pt and Hare Island has been blown off station and is presently situated 50m to 60m off the eastern shore of Killinure Pt.
Masters are advised to navigate with due caution when in this area and refer to the Shannon Navigation Guide when on passage.
Weather conditions and high water levels will dictate when this buoy will be recovered and replaced in its position. A further marine notice will be issued to advise.

Green Buoy Adrift

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters that a green coloured buoy marking the Defence Forces firing range situated immediately north of Cribby Islands on Lough Ree has broken its mooring and drifted north in the direction of  Warren Point where it is reported aground.
Masters are requested to keep a good look-out when in this part of the navigation in case the buoy continues to drift further.
