MARINE NOTICE, No. 55 of 2022

Grand Canal – Shannon Harbour & Royal Canal – Mullingar

IWAI Events June & July 2022

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all users of the Royal Canal and Grand Canal of the following IWAI events;

      • Grand Canal – Shannon Harbour Canal Boat Rally – 24/25/26 June 2022
      • Royal Canal – Mullingar Harbour – Float to the Fleadh – 31 July to 07 Aug 2022

Please note, vessels attending these events are required to apply for a Visitors Permit, free of charge, before entering the canal network.
Masters of vessels are requested to proceed at slow speed and note any directions issued in the vicinity of the events.

Bitte beachten Sie, dass Schiffe, die an diesen Veranstaltungen teilnehmen, eine kostenlose Besuchererlaubnis beantragen müssen, bevor sie das Kanalnetz befahren dürfen.
Die Kapitäne der Schiffe werden gebeten, mit langsamer Geschwindigkeit zu fahren und alle Anweisungen zu beachten, die in der Nähe der Veranstaltung ausgegeben werden.

ROYAL CANAL

Mullingar, Scanlan’s Bridge

Canal Closure for Essential Maintenance

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that the Royal Canal, at Scanlon’s Bridge, Mullingar will be closed for essential maintenance works on the pedestrian bridge. The closure will be from Monday 1st December until Wednesday 23rd December.

Waterways Ireland wishes to apologise to its customers for any inconvenience caused during the course of these works. For any further information or updates please contact the Eastern Regional Office (01 868 0148).

Waterway Ireland has been advised by the Garda that a car has entered the canal at this location and while not blocking the canal completely it is causing a restriction to the navigable width.
Masters are requested to navigate at slow speed and with due caution when passing this obstruction.
