Temporary Closure due to Essential Construction Works
Marine Notice No 122 of 2014 refers, Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that the 34th Level at Ballroe on the Royal Canal will re-open on Fri 13th Mar 2015.
Waterways Ireland wishes to advise Masters and owners of vessels that the following planned closures will be in place for the winter of 2014-2015.
Grand Canal – Main Line
Sallins, Co. Kildare
The canal and the public jetty have opened following recent construction works. The longer-term moorings will remain closed until the services are available at this jetty
Lock 29, Ballycowan to Lock 30, Rahan
Closed from 13th October 2014 to late December 2014 for structural repairs to Charleville Aqueduct.
Grand Canal – Barrow Line
Glenaree Bridge to Rathangan Bridge
Closed from 28th October 2014 to early January 2015 for winter dredging.
Spencer Bridge to Wilson Bridge
Closed from January 2015 to mid March 2015 for winter dredging.
Vicarstown
Closed from 29th October to end of November 2014 for essential repairs to Vicarstown Bridge.
Royal Canal
Spencer Dock, Newcomen Bridge
There will be no further lifts of Newcomen railway bridge until the 2015 boating season.
1st Level, Portland Place
Structural repairs to the towpath will be undertaken from the end of October 2014 to late December 2014 – the canal will be closed for the duration of the works.
35th Level, Balroe, Co. Westmeath
Closed from 13th October 2014 until further notice for essential construction works.
Barrow Navigation
Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow
Closed at Bagenalstown mid March for essential repairs.

Temporary Closure due to Essential Construction Works
Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that the 34th Level at Balroe on the Royal Canal will be closed from Monday 13th October 2014 until further notice for essential construction works.
Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their cooperation in this matter and regrets any inconvenience that this may cause.
Canoe Polo Competition
Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters and users of the Royal Canal that a canoe polo competition will take place between the 5th and 6th lock on the Royal Canal, Dublin on Sat 9th Aug 2014.
Masters are requested to note any advice issued by safety marshals while the event is in progress.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all users that the towpath between Ashtown Station and Castleknock which had been closed for refurbishment has now re-opened as a new cycle path and pedestrian way.
