MARINE NOTICE, No. 53 of 2014

Shannon Navigation
Limerick – Sarsfield’s Lock

Marine Notice No 48 of 2014 is withdrawn and replaced by this Notice.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels and boats that Sarsfield’s Lock will be operated on restricted service from Thurs 22nd May to Fri 30th May 2014. During this time the lock will operate from 9am to 4:30pm daily.
Masters and owners are requested to ring the lockkeeper on 353 (0)87 7972998 one day prior to making their passage.
Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their cooperation in this matter.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that a raft race and a swimming race will take place in Carrick on Mon 2 Jun 2014 between 1430hrs and 1630hrs.
These events will be held in the vicinity of the Boat Club and also immediately upstream and downstream of the town bridge.
Masters and owners are requested to give these events a wide berth, proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash when passing and to note any advice issued by the safety craft accompanying the events.

Exit of Tailrace to North end of King’s  Island

 Starboardhand Navigation Buoy Off Station

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters that the most southern of the starboarhand navigation buoys that is located upstream of the railway bridge between the exit of the Ardnascrusha tailrace and the North end of King’s Island has been reported off station and has drifted downstream.
Masters should navigate with due caution when in this stretch of the navigation.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters that the lay-by pontoon immediately upstream of the railways bridge between the exit of the Ardnascrusha tailrace  and the  North end of King’s Island is unsafe. Vessels should not moor at this location until further notice.

Change of Colour of Starboardhand Marks
from Black to Green

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that work will commence this week on changing the colour of starboardhand marks from the present colour black to the colour green.
Masters of vessels should take additional care in the area, if in doubt consult with the Lockkeeper in Drumshanbo on entering Lough Allen.
Further notice will be issued on completion.
