Sat 13 and Sun 14 June 2015 Kidathon and Triathlon Event

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that the waiting jetty south of Tarmonbarry Lock and the lock itself will be unavailable on Sat 13 Jun from 1800hrs until 1900hrs to facilitate the above events.
Further the swim element of the above event will take place immediately downstream of the lock on Sun 14 June from 1030hrs until 1100hrs.The lock will be closed during this period.
Also the N5 road lifting bridge will be unavailable to boat traffic between 1040hrs and 1240hrs. Masters may wish to consider the Camlin river as a alternative route.
Masters are requested to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash when approaching this section of the river from downstream and be prepared to anchor and also heed any instructions issued by the event marshals and in particular to keep a look-out for swimmers in the water.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that the swim element of the above event will take place in Athy on Sat 30 May from 0700hrs until 2100hrs.
Masters are requested to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash when passing this section of the river and heed any instructions issued by the event marshals and in particular to keep a look-out for swimmers in the water.

Triathlon Event Sat 12 July

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that the swimming element of the above event will take place in Lanesborough , south of the town bridge, between 1030 and 1230 hours on Sat 12 July 2014.
The 750m course will be set out just south of the town bridge and will be marked by three large orange buoys. Masters are requested to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash when passing the course and to note any advice given by safety boat marshals.

Triathlon Event – Swimming Element – Sat 7 Jun 2014

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and users of the Shannon Navigation that a triathlon event will take place on Sat 7 Jun in the environs of Portrunny harbour and that the swimming course will be laid out adjacent to the moorings.
The course will be active from 11.30 a.m until 1 p.m
Swimmers on the course they will be accompanied by a safety boat and kayaks .
Masters are requested to give swimmers a wide berth and to navigate at slow speed and with a low wash when passing the area and to heed any instructions or advice given by the event marshals.
