Portumna, Castle Harbour

Refurbishment Works

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that refurbishment work on Portumna Castle Harbour will commence on Monday 21st September and continue until mid- February 2016. The harbour will be closed to boating traffic for the duration of the works. Masters/owners presently berthed in this harbour are requested to move their vessels to alternative moorings by Fri 18th Sep.

Lock Gate Fault

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that the upstream gate, on the eastern side, at Athlone Lock is not fully operational and as a result passage is restricted to one gate width only until further notice.
Masters are requested to approach the upstream gates at slow speed and with minimum wash and to follow directions issued by the lockkeeper.
Waterways Ireland apologises for any inconvenience caused by this restriction and thanks its customers for their cooperation.

Athlone River Festival

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that the above festival will take place on 12th and 13th Sep. Various water based activities will take place between the White Railway Bridge and the Town Bridge on Sun 13th from 1500hrs until 1730hrs.
Masters are requested to take heed of advice and directions from safety craft monitoring the event and to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash while passing through the area as low freeboard craft will be participating in it and swimmers may be in the water.

GRAND CANAL – RINGSEND

Dublin Dragon Boat Regatta

September 12th and 13th 2015

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that there will be a regatta of “DRAGON BOATS” in Grand Canal Dock on 10th and 12th September 2015 between 0745hrs and 1900hrs daily.
Racing will be on the North Side of the outer dock. Masters and owners of vessels operating in Grand Canal Dock should refrain from entering the race course and comply with guidance instructions from race officials.
