Shannon Erne Waterway
High Water Levels
Lock Closures and General Hazards
Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that the following Shannon-Erne Waterway Locks are inoperable due to high water levels following recent heavy rainfall:
- – Locks 2 – 5 and Locks 7 – 16
Masters should be aware of the following non-exhaustive list of hazards related to the current high water levels:
- – Reduced air-draft at bridges
- – Increased flow rates
- – Difficulties discerning the navigation channel
- – Submerged obstacles including navigation markers
- – Submerged jetties
