Temporary Closure at Lock C1
Issued Monday 11 February 2026
Waterways Ireland informs Masters of vessels on the Grand Canal that Lock C1 is closed with immediate effect and will remain closed until further notice.
The closure is necessary to facilitate an engineering assessment of the Lock C1 breast gate cill and to enable any subsequent repair works deemed necessary.
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience caused to its customers as a result of these essential works.
Impacted boaters have been contacted directly. A further update will issue once the assessment has been completed.

Vorübergehende Sperrung der Schleuse C1, herausgegeben am Montag, 11. Februar 2026
Waterways Ireland informiert die Kapitäne von Schiffen auf dem Grand Canal, dass die Schleuse C1 mit sofortiger Wirkung gesperrt ist und bis auf Weiteres geschlossen bleibt.
Die Sperrung ist notwendig, um eine technische Begutachtung des Schleusentors der Schleuse C1 zu ermöglichen und gegebenenfalls erforderliche Reparaturarbeiten durchzuführen.
Waterways Ireland bedauert die Unannehmlichkeiten, die seinen Kunden durch diese notwendigen Arbeiten entstehen.
Die betroffenen Bootsfahrer wurden direkt kontaktiert. Weitere Informationen werden nach Abschluss der Begutachtung bekannt gegeben.
