Killaloe and Ballina

In river works for Killaloe By-pass bridge, From 21 August 2024

Waterways Ireland wishes to inform Masters of vessels on the Shannon Navigation that the major in river works for the construction of the Killaloe By-Pass bridge superstructure are nearing completion. The bridge is being constructed approx. 1km downstream of the current Killaloe – Ballina bridge.
A buoyed navigational channel continues to be provided via spans 3 & 4, for 100 metres upstream and downstream of the new bridge.
A works barge (20m x 9m) will be operating on the navigation until the end of October 2024.
This barge will be moored on the Ballina side of the site when not in use.
When the barge is operating in one of the navigational spans (3 or 4), vessels will use the other.
Masters of vessels are requested to proceed at slow speed (5 knots, no wash), with additional caution in the vicinity of the works and to follow the instructions of the safety boat crew.

A works barge (red color 20m x 9m) will be operating on the navigation

Bauarbeiten im Fluss für die Killaloe-Umgehungsbrücke, ab 21. August 2024
Waterways Ireland möchte die Kapitäne von Schiffen auf der Shannon Navigation darüber informieren, dass die umfangreichen Bauarbeiten für den Überbau der Killaloe-Bypass-Brücke kurz vor dem Abschluss stehen. Die Brücke wird ca. 1 km stromabwärts der derzeitigen Brücke Killaloe – Ballina gebaut.
Eine betonnte Fahrrinne wird weiterhin über die Spannweiten 3 und 4 auf einer Länge von 100 m stromaufwärts und stromabwärts der neuen Brücke eingerichtet.
Ein Arbeitsschiff (20 m x 9 m) wird bis Ende Oktober 2024 in der Fahrrinne eingesetzt.
Dieser Lastkahn wird auf der Ballina-Seite der Baustelle vertäut, wenn er nicht im Einsatz ist.
Wenn der Lastkahn in einer der beiden Fahrrinnen (3 oder 4) in Betrieb ist, werden die Schiffe die andere benutzen.
Die Schiffsführer werden gebeten, mit langsamer Geschwindigkeit (5 Knoten, keine Waschanlage) zu fahren, in der Nähe der Arbeiten zusätzliche Vorsicht walten zu lassen und den Anweisungen der Sicherheitsbootbesatzung Folge zu leisten.
Waterways Ireland dankt seinen Kunden für ihre Kooperation in dieser Angelegenheit.

Grand Canal, 3rd Lock to 5th Lock (Blackhorse Bridge – Inchicore)

North Bank Closed For 6 Weeks

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters of vessels and users that the north bank of the Grand Canal, from the 3rd Lock to the 5th Lock, will be closed to the public for a period of 6 weeks beginning Monday the 26th August 2024.
This closure is to facilitate the ESB in carrying out essential upgrade works on their infrastructure.
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience that this may cause and thanks its customers for their co-operation in relation to this matter.

Grand Canal, 3. Lock bis 5. Lock (Blackhorse Bridge – Inchicore)
Nordufer für 6 Wochen geschlossen
Waterways Ireland möchte alle Schiffskapitäne und Benutzer darauf hinweisen, dass das Nordufer des Grand Canal von der 3. bis zur 5. Schleuse ab Montag, dem 26. August 2024, für einen Zeitraum von sechs Wochen für die Öffentlichkeit gesperrt wird.
Diese Sperrung dient dazu, dem ESB die Durchführung wichtiger Modernisierungsarbeiten an seiner Infrastruktur zu ermöglichen.
Waterways Ireland bedauert die damit verbundenen Unannehmlichkeiten und bedankt sich bei seinen Gästen für ihre Kooperation in dieser Angelegenheit.

Red Navigation Marker- No. 7 – Off Station

Waterways Ireland wishes to inform masters of vessels and waterway users on Lough Ree that Red Navigation Marker No. 7, at Inchcleraun, has moved off station and drifted north.
Masters of Vessels are urged to proceed with additional caution in the area. The marker will be replaced as soon as possible.
Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their co-operation in relation to this matter.

Shannon Navigation, Lough Ree, Roter Navigationsmarker – Nr. 7 – außer Betrieb
Waterways Ireland möchte die Kapitäne von Schiffen und der Wasserstraßen auf dem Lough Ree darüber informieren, dass das rote Seezeichen Nr. 7 bei Inchcleraun seinen Standort verlassen hat und nach Norden getrieben ist.
Die Kapitäne von Schiffen werden dringend gebeten, in diesem Gebiet mit erhöhter Vorsicht vorzugehen. Die Markierung wird so bald wie möglich ersetzt.
Waterways Ireland dankt seinen Gästen für ihre Kooperation in dieser Angelegenheit.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters of vessels and users that Battlebridge Lock, Battlebridge, Co. Leitrim will have intermittent service during the PM hours of Monday 19th August 2024, due to electrical upgrade works in the area.
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience that this may cause and thanks its customers for their co-operation in relation to this matter.

Waterways Ireland möchte alle Schiffskapitäne und Benutzer darauf hinweisen, dass die Battlebridge Schleuse, Battlebridge, Co. Leitrim, am Montag, den 19. August 2024, in den Abendstunden wegen Umbauarbeiten an der Elektrik nur mit Unterbrechungen in Betrieb sein wird.
Waterways Ireland bedauert alle Unannehmlichkeiten, die dadurch entstehen können, und dankt seinen Gästen für ihre Kooperation in dieser Angelegenheit.

Abbott Longford Marathon – Sunday 25 August 2024

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all Masters and users that in order to facilitate the annual Abbott Longford marathon road race on Sunday 25 August 2024 lifting bridge operations will be restricted accordingly.

The following air draft restrictions will apply to the lifting bridges, which will be closed during the time periods indicated below.

- Royal Canal – Begnagh Bridge
  The bridge will be closed from 0730hrs to 1000 hrs. The Lock keeper may be contacted on 00 353 087 9151400.

- Shannon Navigation – Tarmonbarry Bridge (0845 hrs to 1200 hrs)
  The air draft at Tarmonbarry at Ordinary Summer Level is 7’9″ (2.35m). The Lock keeper can be contacted during lock opening hours at 00 353 (0) 43 3326117 or 087 9222020 for further information. Alternative route via the Camlin River is available.

- Shannon Navigation – Rooskey Bridge (0930 hrs to 1245 hrs)
  The air draft at Roosky Bridge at Ordinary Summer Level is 10ft (3.025m). There is an air draft gauge erected at the bridge on both Upper and Lower approaches. The Lock keeper can be contacted during lock opening hours at 00 353 (0) 71 96 38018 for further information.

Abbott Longford Marathon – Sonntag, 25. August 2024
Waterways Ireland möchte alle Schiffsführer und Benutzer darauf hinweisen, dass der Betrieb der Hebebrücken am Sonntag, den 25. August 2024, eingeschränkt wird, um den jährlichen Abbott Longford Marathon zu ermöglichen.
Die folgenden Tiefgangsbeschränkungen gelten für die Hebebrücken, die während der unten angegebenen Zeiträume geschlossen sein werden.

- Royal Canal – Begnagh-Brücke
  Die Brücke wird von 0730 Uhr bis 1000 Uhr geschlossen sein. Der Schleusenwärter kann unter der Telefonnummer 00 353 087 9151400 kontaktiert werden.
- Shannon Navigation – Tarmonbarry-Brücke (0845 Uhr bis 1200 Uhr)
  Der Luftzug bei Tarmonbarry beträgt bei normalem Sommerwasserstand 2,35 m (7’9″). Der Schleusenwärter kann während der Schleusenöffnungszeiten unter 00 353 (0) 43 3326117 oder 087 9222020 für weitere Informationen kontaktiert werden. Eine alternative Route über den Camlin River ist verfügbar.
- Shannon Navigation – Rooskey Bridge (0930 Uhr bis 1245 Uhr)
  Die air draft an der Roosky Bridge beträgt bei normalem Sommerwasserstand 3,025 m (10 Fuß). An der Brücke ist sowohl an der oberen als auch an der unteren Zufahrt eine airdraft anzeige angebracht.
