Erne System

Kesh River Low Water Levels

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and vessel owners that the water level on the Kesh River between Kesh Village and lower Lough Erne has fallen to an annual low level, metric water level gauges have been installed at the mouth of the Kesh River to indicate the water level along the route, all masters should check these gauges before making passage along the river towards Kesh, masters of all deep drafted vessels are advised to avoid the area until water levels have increased.

Marine Notice No 128 of 2016 refers. Waterways Ireland wishes to advise that the intended inspections of Victoria Lock, Meelick and Roosky Lock, will not now take place until after Wed 2 Nov, the locks will remain open in the intervening period.

Temporary Mooring Closure

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that the moorings on the Sligo Road (Henry St jetty) and the front finger of the‎ Round „O“ jetty will be closed on Friday 14 Oct to facilitate, the Erne Pike Classic Competition.
These moorings will be fully available again from 0900hrs Saturday 15 Oct.

BARROW LINE

CLOSURE and UPDATE

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters and users of the Barrow Navigation that emergency repairs to Rathvindon lock will begin on 17th October. The navigation will be closed from 0830hrs on 17th for a period of 3 – 4 weeks.

BARROW LINE UPDATE

Replacement of the collapsed culvert between locks 22 and 23 is complete. The banks are being rebuilt and it is expected that the Barrow Line will be open to navigation before the end of October.

Winter Mooring Period 2016-2017

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters that the winter mooring period for public harbours on the above navigations will commence on 1 Nov 2016 and end on the 31 Mar 2017.
Masters are advised that collection of the associated charge, in arrears, has ceased and they are now requested to pay the winter mooring fee of €63.50 prior to 1 Nov 2016.
Masters are furthered reminded that Bye-law 17. Mooring and Use of Harbours i.e the “5 Day Rule”, continues to apply during this period and that masters not wishing to avail of winter mooring should continue to observe the mooring time limits for public harbours.
Payment may be made by cheque, bank draft or postal order, made payable to Waterways Ireland, to the office below. Credit/Debit Card payments may be made by contacting Finance Section, Waterways Ireland, Enniskillen, Tel: 048 6632 3004 (from ROI).
Masters should also note that fresh water and electricity supply may not be available during this period at public moorings therefore any on-board services which may be depending on this electrical supply should have an alternative source of power.
Masters are reminded that if availing of winter mooring that they continue to routinely monitor their vessels especially during periods of adverse weather and also be aware of rising/falling water levels that will require adjustment of mooring lines.
Owners please note that vessels berthed in public harbours are at the owners risk at all times and may be directed to other harbours as operational exigencies require.
