Waterways Ireland has been advised by Rivers Agency of its intention to carry out essential maintenance works to the sluice gates at Colerain and that there will be no pedestrian access through the Cutts site .
Access to boating traffic into the upper canal into Cutts Lock will be prohibited today, Tue 25th Oct .

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that the Henry Street jetty, Enniskillen will be closed from Tues 1st November 2016 to Fri 23rd December 2016. This is to facilitate the construction of a replacement jetty.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that the Grand Canal will be closed to navigation from Monday 7th November 2016 to Friday 16th December 2016 to facilitate maintenance works at the 27th lock.
This closure will also entail lowering the canal water level on the Tullamore Harbour level between the 26th and 27th locks by approximately 600mm for the duration ofthe works. All masters and owners of vessels currently moored on the Tullamore level are advised to move their vessels to alternative location by the 4th November 2016.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise that Kilcock Harbour has now re-opened for public use following earlier closures due to water quality issues.
Remedial works were undertaken by Kildare County Council to the storm drainage network, subsequent testing has shown that the water quality is suitable for use again.
Water quality testing will continue in the harbour and updates will be issued as appropriate.

Additional Towpath Closure – 16th Lock to Spin Bridge
Further to MN 132/2016 Waterways Ireland wishes to further advise that the towpath of the Royal Canal in Kilcock from west of the 16th Lock Shaw Bridge to Spin Bridge (approx. 950 metres), will also be closed until December 2016 to facilitate the construction of a new cycle route.
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience that this may cause to its customers.
