Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that the 18th Lock of the Grand Canal will be closed to navigation from next Wednesday 16th November 2016 until January 2017. The lock area will be dewatered for repair and upgrade works during this period.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that an underwater archaeological survey will be carried out in the vicinity of the town bridge between the 14th and 18th of Nov commencing at 09:00 hrs and finishing at 17:00 each day. Divers will be operating from an 8m RIB and flying the International Code Flag „A“ ( Blue with white swallow tail) to indicate that divers are in the vicinity. Channel 16 Marine vhf will be monitored.
Masters are requested to approach the bridge keeping a sharp lookout , at slow speed and with minimum wash.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters and users of the Shannon Navigation that Water Levels continue to fall due to low Rainfall in recent Weeks.
Masters of Vessels, particularly those with deep Drafts, are advised to navigate with due caution.
Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that Roosky Lock on the Shannon Navigation will be closed to boat traffic from Mon 14th November until Fri 16th December. Victoria Lock, Meelick will be closed from Mon 21st November until Fri 16th December.
The locks will be closed to facilitate preliminary investigations and allow detailed measurements to be taken to enable the procurement manufacture of replacement lock gates for both upper and lower gates at Roosky and the lower gates at Victoria Lock. Any essential maintenance identified in the process will be addressed in order to maintain the lock operational until the major element of inserting the new gates takes place in the autumn of 2017.

Waterways ireland wishes to advise all masters and users of the Erne Navigation that a Fireworks display will take place at Castle Island, Enniskillen on mon 31st. Oct from 8.00 p.m. To 8.30 p.m.
Masters of Vessels are advised that there will be no mooring permitted at the Waterways Ireland Head Office mooring nor at the Henry Street Public Jetties on the day of the event in the interest of public safety. Navigation in the vicinity of Castle Island is also prohibited for the duration of the event. Alternative mooring is available at the forum and regal pass jetties with easy access to event vantage points.
