Shannon & Shannon-Erne Navigations

Winter Mooring Period

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters that the winter mooring period for public harbours on the above navigations will commence on 1 Nov 2014 and end on the 31 Mar 2015.

Masters are advised that collection of the associated charge, in arrears, has ceased and are now requested to pay the winter mooring fee of € 63.50 prior to 1 Nov 2014.

Masters are further reminded that Bye-law 17. Mooring and Use of Harbours i.e the “5 Day Rule”, continues to apply during this period and that masters not wishing to avail of winter mooring should continue to observe the mooring time limits for public harbours.

Payment may be made by cheque, bank draft or postal order, made payable to Waterways Ireland, to the office below. Credit/Debit Card payments may be made by contacting Finance Section, Waterways Ireland, Enniskillen, Tel: 048 6632 3004 (from ROI).

Masters should further note that fresh water and electricity supply may not be available during this period at public moorings for reasons of preventative maintenance.

Bagnelstown Lock

Essential Repairs

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise that that The Barrow Navigation will be closed at Bagenalstown Lock from Monday 22nd September 2014 until the end of February 2015. A dam is to be placed in position in the navigation channel about 150 meters downstream of Bagenalstown Lock. This is to facilitate a contractor carrying out essential wall repairs.
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience that this may cause its customers.

Ref Marine Notice 115 Tarmonbarry Lock Closure. Waterways Ireland wishes to advise that this closure will not now go ahead on 23rd. Sep as planned but has been postponed until after 1 Nov 2014, further information will be issued in due course.

Shannon Navigation

Tarmonbarry Lock

Intended closure for works

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that Tarmonbarry Lock on the Shannon Navigation will be closed to boat traffic from the 23rd September, 2014.

The lock will remain closed over the winter period for structural works including replacement of lock gates, strengthening of land ties and masonry repairs to the lock chamber.
During the works, vessels may circumnavigate the lock using the Camlin River, entering or leaving the Shannon 3km north of Tarmonbarry and similarly at Clondra Lock, immediately south of Tarmonbarry .
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience that this may cause and thanks its customers for their cooperation in this matter.

Grand Canal Closure

Ballycowan/Rahan 29th – 30th  Level

Temporary Closure due to Repair Works

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that the Grand Canal between Lock 29, Ballycowan and Lock 30 , Rahan will be closed from Monday 6th October 2014 until late November 2014  in order to carry out structural  repairs to Charleville  Aquaduct.
Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their cooperation in this matter and regrets any inconvenience that this may cause.
