Enniskillen – Portora

Head of River Rowing Race Sat 1st. Mar 2014

Masters and owners are advised that the Portora Boat  Club “Head of River” race will take place on Sat 1st Mar 2014 from 09.00 hrs until 17.00hrs, the course will stretch from Inishkeen downstream to finish at the  Portora Boat House, Enniskillen.
Masters of vessels are requested to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash when passing this stretch of the navigation and to heed any advice or instructions issued by the regatta officials.

Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their cooperation in this matter.

Middle Ground Rocks – Scarriff Bay

Red Conical Buoy Adrift

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise owners and masters that a report has been received that the northernmost red conical buoy marking the Middle Ground Rocks in Scarriff Bay is adrift and last sighted in the vicinity of the Red Cage Buoy „B“  at Hare Island.
Masters are advised to keep a sharp lookout and navigate with due caution when in this section of the navigation.

Vessel Adrift

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise owners and masters that a report has been received that a vessel has broken its moorings at Hayes Island, Portumna Bridge and is presently drifting in the navigation.
Masters are advised to keep a lookout for this craft and navigate with due caution when in this section of the navigation.

Green Starboard Cage Buoy Off Station

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise owners and masters that the Green Starboard Cage Buoy located between Coosan Pt and Hare Island has been blown off station and is presently situated 50m to 60m off the eastern shore of Killinure Pt.
Masters are advised to navigate with due caution when in this area and refer to the Shannon Navigation Guide when on passage.
Weather conditions and high water levels will dictate when this buoy will be recovered and replaced in its position. A further marine notice will be issued to advise.

Portumna Swing Bridge Closure

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise owners and masters that due to unforeseen circumstances Portumna Swing

Bridge will be closed for essential maintenance from next Monday 10th February until Monday 3rd. March 2014.
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience that this may cause its customers.
