Shannon Navigation

Tarmonbarry to Ballyleague, Navigation Closure,

The Great River Swim, 0900hrs to 1400hrs on Sat 18 May 2024

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise Masters of Vessels and users of the Shannon Navigation that The Great River Swim will take place between Tarmonbarry and Ballyleague on Saturday 18 May 2024. Approx 500 swimmers will participate in the swim event.

The Shannon Navigation between Tarmonbarry lock and Ballyleague bridge will be closed from 0900hrs to 1400hrs on Saturday 18th May 2024. Tarmonbarry lock and Clondara canal lock will be closed from 0900hrs to 1400hrs. Vessels will be prohibited from proceeding upstream from Ballyleague bridge between 0900hrs to 1400hrs.
A series of large bright green and red buoys (branded with Gaelforce) will be positioned along the swim route on the evening of Friday 17th May 2024 and will be removed after the swim on Saturday 18th May 2024.

Waterways Ireland möchte die Schiffsführer und Benutzer der Shannon Navigation darauf hinweisen, dass am Samstag, den 18. Mai 2024 zwischen Tarmonbarry und Ballyleague das Great River Swim stattfinden wird. Etwa 500 Schwimmer werden an der Veranstaltung teilnehmen.
Die Shannon Navigation zwischen der Tarmonbarry-Schleuse und der Ballyleague-Brücke wird am Samstag, den 18. Mai 2024, von 9.00 bis 14.00 Uhr gesperrt. Die Schleuse von Tarmonbarry und die Schleuse des Clondara-Kanals werden von 9.00 bis 14.00 Uhr geschlossen. Die stromaufwärts gerichtete Fahrt von der Ballyleague-Brücke ist zwischen 0900 und 1400 Uhr verboten.
Entlang der Schwimmstrecke werden am Freitag, den 17. Mai 2024, abends eine Reihe großer hellgrüner und roter Bojen (mit Gaelforce-Branding) aufgestellt, die nach dem Schwimmen am Samstag, den 18. Mai 2024, wieder entfernt werden.

Barrow Navigation

Carlow

Events on Sun 19th and Sun 26th May 2024

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters of vessels that the events will take place on the Barrow Navigation at Carlow as follows:

- Kerala House Boat Race will take place on 19th May 2024.
- National Series Sprint Distance – Swimming on 26th May 2024. There will be 10 kayaks for swimmers’ safety and a civil defence boat.

Masters of vessels are requested to proceed with additional caution in the vicinity of the events and obey safety boat instructions.
Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their co-operation in relation to this matter.

Die Schiffsführer werden gebeten, in der Nähe der Veranstaltungen zusätzliche Vorsicht walten zu lassen und den Anweisungen des Sicherheitsbootes Folge zu leisten.

14th Lock – Devonshire Bridge

Lock Closure

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters of vessels that the 14th Lock on the Grand Canal has been closed with immediate effect. Navigation through the lock is not possible at this time.
Further Marine Notices will be issued as required.
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience that this may cause and thanks its customers for their co-operation in relation to this matter.

Grand Canal, 14. Schleuse – Devonshire-Brücke, Schließung der Schleuse
Waterways Ireland möchte alle Schiffskapitäne darauf hinweisen, dass die 14. Schleuse am Grand Canal mit sofortiger Wirkung geschlossen worden ist. Die Schifffahrt durch die Schleuse ist zu diesem Zeitpunkt nicht möglich.
Weitere Marine Notices werden bei Bedarf herausgegeben.
Waterways Ireland bedauert jegliche Unannehmlichkeiten, die dadurch entstehen können, und dankt seinen Kunden für ihre Kooperation in dieser Angelegenheit.

Ordinary Summer Levels in all areas

Cautionary warning

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that water levels in all areas north of Lough Ree are now at Ordinary Summer Level.Water levels on the Shannon Navigation south of Lough Ree are approaching Ordinary Summer Level.
Water levels are expected to continue to lower in the coming weeks.
Masters of vessels, particularly those with deep drafts, are advised to navigate with additional caution and to remain within the navigation at all times.

Shannon Navigation, Gewöhnliche Sommerpegel in allen Gebieten,
Vorsorgliche Warnung
Waterways Ireland möchte Kapitäne und Schiffseigner darauf hinweisen, dass die Wasserstände in allen Gebieten nördlich von Lough Ree jetzt den gewöhnlichen Sommerpegel erreicht haben.
Die Wasserstände auf der Shannon Navigation südlich von Lough Ree nähern sich dem gewöhnlichen Sommerpegel.
Es wird erwartet, dass die Wasserstände in den kommenden Wochen weiter sinken werden.
Den Kapitänen von Schiffen, insbesondere von solchen mit großem Tiefgang, wird empfohlen, besonders vorsichtig zu navigieren und jederzeit innerhalb der Navigation zu bleiben.

Lock Closure – Monday 13th May to Saturday 18th May 2024.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters of vessels that the 30th Lock on the Grand Canal will be closed for one week from Monday 13th May to Saturday 18th May 2024. Navigation through the Lock will not be possible during this time.
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience that this may cause and thanks its customers for their co-operation in relation to this matter.
