Athlone Lock

Temporary Closure
01 November 2021 to 03 November 2021

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise Masters of Vessels on the Shannon Navigation that Athlone Lock will be temporarily closed from 01 November 2021 until 03 November 2021 inclusive. This closure is to facilitate flood relief works.
Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their understanding in relation to this matter.

Athlone Lock, Vorübergehende Schließung
 01. November 2021 bis 03. November 2021
Waterways Ireland möchte die Kapitäne von Schiffen auf der Shannon Navigation darauf hinweisen, dass die Athlone Schleuse vom 01. November 2021 bis einschließlich 03. November 2021 vorübergehend geschlossen wird. Diese Schließung dient der Durchführung von Hochwasserschutzmaßnahmen.
Waterways Ireland dankt seinen Kunden für ihr Verständnis in dieser Angelegenheit.

Athlone Lock

Closed to navigation Thursday 10th October 2019

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that Athlone Lock will be closed to navigation on Thursday 10th October for 1 day as essential maintenance is required to the downstream gates.

Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience caused and thanks its customers for their cooperation.

Athlone-Lock Geschlossen für die Navigation

Donnerstag 10. Oktober 2019

Waterways Ireland möchte die Kapitäne und Eigentümer darauf hinweisen, dass die Athlone Lock am Donnerstag, den 10. Oktober, für einen Tag für die Schifffahrt geschlossen sein wird, da an den stromabwärts gelegenen Toren eine grundlegende Wartung erforderlich ist.

Lock Gate Fault

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that the upstream gate, on the eastern side, at Athlone Lock is not fully operational and as a result passage is restricted to one gate width only until further notice.
Masters are requested to approach the upstream gates at slow speed and with minimum wash and to follow directions issued by the lockkeeper.
Waterways Ireland apologises for any inconvenience caused by this restriction and thanks its customers for their cooperation.

Athlone to Portumna

SHANNON ONE DESIGN (SOD)

Long Distance Sailing Race

Sat 27th. and Sun 28th. June 2015

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels of the above race. SOD’s will race from Athlone lock to Banagher harbour on Sat the 27th. and from Banagher to Portumna bridge on Sun 28th.
Masters of powerboats are requested to heed their wash when passing vessels under sail and accordingly to observe the navigation rules.
Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their cooperation in this matter.

NAVIGATION RESTRICTIONS

“WATERWAYS IRELAND TRIATHLONE”

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that navigation restrictions will be in place in Athlone between the Athlone By-pass bridge (M6) and the Athlone Lock, to facilitate the swimming element of this national event.
