Rowing Regatta, Sun 4th Aug 2019

Navigation and Mooring Restrictions

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters and users of the Shannon Navigation of navigation and mooring restrictions in Carrick- on- Shannon to facilitate the Rowing Club Regatta on Sunday 4th August 2019.
The Regatta will be held on a 500 metres stretch of water immediately south of the town bridge commencing at 0900hrs and finishing at approx 1800hrs.
Craft wishing to make a through passage will be facilitated every 2 hrs approximately, during the course of the regatta.
Masters should note that ONLY vessels of an overall length of 22ft. / 6.8m or less will be permitted on the floating jetties from Wednesday 31st July to Sunday 4th August.
This is necessary in the interest of marine safety and to facilitate the laying of the competition course.
Vessels berthed from Wednesday at 1600hrs will be required to remain in place until racing finishes at approx 1800hrs on Sunday 4 August.
No vessels should approach the jetties between 1600hrs on Wednesday and approx 1800hrs on Sunday as the entrance to the berths will be closed off and manoeuvring room will be severely restricted due to the proximity of the course.
Masters are advised to proceed at slow speed and with due caution and to take note of advice from course marshals when passing through the area.

Navigations- und Liegeplatzbeschränkungen
Waterways Ireland möchte alle Kapitäne und Benutzer der Shannon Navigation über Navigations- und Liegeplatzbeschränkungen in Carrick- on Shannon informieren, um die Ruderclub-Regatta am Sonntag, den 4. August 2019 zu erleichtern.
Die Regatta findet auf einem 500 Meter langen Gewässer unmittelbar südlich der Stadtbrücke statt, beginnend um 0900 Uhr und endend um 1800 Uhr.
Das Wasserfahrzeug, das eine Durchfahrt machen möchte, wird während der Regatta ca. alle 2 Stunden unterstützt.
Die Kapitäne sollten beachten, dass NUR Schiffe mit einer Gesamtlänge von 22 Fuß. / 6,8 m oder weniger sind an den Floating Jetties vom Mittwoch, den 31. Juli bis Sonntag, den 4. August erlaubt.
Dies ist im Interesse der Sicherheit auf See und zur Erleichterung der Festlegung des Wettbewerbskurses erforderlich.
Schiffe, die ab Mittwoch um 1600 Uhr vor Anker liegen, müssen an Ort und Stelle bleiben, bis das Rennen am Sonntag, den 4. August, um ca. 1800 Uhr endet.
Zwischen Mittwoch 1600 Uhr und Sonntag ca. 1800 Uhr sollten sich keine Schiffe den Stegen nähern, da der Zugang zu den Liegeplätzen gesperrt wird und der Manövrierraum durch die Nähe der Strecke stark eingeschränkt wird.
Den Kapitänen wird empfohlen, mit langsamer Geschwindigkeit und mit der gebotenen Vorsicht vorzugehen und die Ratschläge der Streckenposten zu beachten, wenn sie durch das Gebiet fahren.
Waterways Ireland nutzt diese Gelegenheit, um seinen Kunden für die Zusammenarbeit bei diesen Vereinbarungen zu danken.

  • Craft wishing to make a through passage will be facilitated every 2 hrs approximately, during the course of the regatta.
  • Masters should note that ONLY vessels of an overall length of 22ft. / 6.8m or less will be permitted on the floating jetties from Fri 4 to Sun 6 Aug inclusive.
  • This is necessary in the interest of marine safety and to facilitate the laying of the competition course.
  • Vessels berthed from Friday 4th at 16.00hr will be required to remain in place until racing finishes at approx 18.00hr on Sunday 6th. August.
  • No vessels should approach the jetties between 16.00hr Friday and approx 18.00hr Sunday as the entrance to the berths will be closed off and manoeuvring room will be severely restricted due to the proximity of the course.
  • Masters are advised to proceed at slow speed and with due caution and to take note of advice from course marshals when passing through the area.

University Sailing Event

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters and owners of vessels that the above event will take palce in the vicinity of Murray’s Bay, Carrick-on-Shannon on Sat 8 and Sun 9 Oct from 0900hrs to 1730hrs daily.
Masters are requested to give a wide berth, obey the „Rule of the Road“ with respect to sailing craft and observe all directions issued from the safety boats in attendance.

  • Masters should note that ONLY vessels of an overall length of 22ft. / 6.8m or less will be permitted on the floating jetties from Fri 29 to Sun31 Jul inclusive.
  • This is necessary in the interest of marine safety and to facilitate the laying of the competition course.
  • Vessels berthed from Friday 29th at 16.00hr will be required to remain in place until racing finishes at approx 18.00hr on Sunday 3 August.
  • No vessels should approach the jetties between 16.00hr Friday and approx 18.00hr Sunday as the entrance to the berths will be closed off and manoeuvring room will be severely restricted due to the proximity of the course.
  • Masters are advised to proceed at slow speed and with due caution and to take note of advice from course marshals when passing through the area.

Water Based Events, 5 and 6 Jun

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that following events will take place in the vicinity of Carrick-on-Shannon Town Bridge as part of the Carrick Carnival running from 3rd to 12 Jun.

      • On Sun 5thJune a fireworks display will be held between 2300hrs and 2359hrs. The pyrotechnics will be fired from Murrays Bay and masters are requested to observe the exclusion zone which will be patrolled by safety craft and to obey any instructions given by event marshals.
      • On Mon 6th June a raft race will take place, commencing from the floating moorings south of the bridge, through the navigation arch and finish in the Boat Club Bay, between 1730 and 1800hrs.

Masters are requested to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash when approaching this section of the river and heed any instructions issued by the event marshals.
