Flow Measurements

Waterways Ireland has been advised by the OPW that flow measurements will be undertaken on Tues 20 Oct from Athlone Town Bridge between 0900hrs and 1400hrs.
Navigation will be impeded for short periods only.
Masters are requested to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash when approaching the bridge during these times and to note any directions from safety marshals on the bridge deck above and /or the river bank.

Flow Measurements

Waterways Ireland has been advised by the OPW of their intention to take flow measurements from Athlone Town Bridge today Fri 25 Oct and also on Tues 29 Oct.
These measurements will hinder passage through the navigational arch but only for short periods of time. Masters should approach the bridge with due caution and be prepared to delay their passage until the navigation is clear.

Athlone and Banagher

Flow Measurement

Waterways Ireland has been informed by the Office of Public Works (OPW) of its intention to conduct flow measurements in Athlone and Banagher between Wed 13 and Thurs 21 Mar 2013. The measuring instrument will be lowered from the bridge to the river and then moved laterally across the bridge arches to take the measurements. The procedure will only take a matter of minutes at each arch. Masters approaching the navigation arch of these bridges should be prepared to stop short and await instructions from OPW staff as to when it is safe to proceed through the arch.
