Contractors will replace the Camden Sea Lock gates, with completion anticipated by May 2026. The project will include the installation of new lock gates and the refurbishment of the coin-stone masonry within the lock chamber. A second phase of work, scheduled for later in 2026, will upgrade the hydraulic gate-opening mechanism.
During the works period, Buckingham Lock operations will be subject to temporary closures to facilitate the completion of the project. Masters of vessels wishing to transit to or from Grand Canal Dock are advised to liaise with Waterways Ireland in advance to confirm access arrangements and specific transit dates by contacting: dublincanals@waterwaysireland.org
Throughout the project, pedestrian access across the sea lock gates will be closed from Monday 19th January 2026. Local signage will be installed to guide pedestrians and ensure safe access management.
These works represent a significant investment in critical navigation infrastructure and will enhance future access for larger seagoing vessels into Grand Canal Dock.
Waterways Ireland thanks all users for their cooperation during this essential upgrade. Further communications will be issued as the works progress, including updates on vessel access and operational arrangements.

Grand Canal Dock–Austausch der Schleusentore
Ausgestellt: 7. Januar 2026
