Royal Canal

Longwood 

Canal closed until 1st March 2025

Essential repairs to aqueduct

Waterways Ireland wishes to notify Masters of Vessels and waterways users that the Royal Canal at Longwood will be closed with immediate effect until 1st March 2025 to facilitate essential repair works to the aqueduct.
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience that these repair works may cause its users.

Waterways Ireland möchte Schiffskapitäne und Wasserstraßenbenutzer darüber informieren, dass der Royal Canal in Longwood mit sofortiger Wirkung bis zum 1. März 2025 geschlossen wird, um wichtige Reparaturarbeiten am Aquädukt durchzuführen.
Waterways Ireland bedauert alle Unannehmlichkeiten, die diese Reparaturarbeiten für die Nutzer des Kanals mit sich bringen können.

Slalom Race 5 July 2015

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that there will be a canoe slalom race in Boolykeogh Harbour near Longwood on the Royal Canal on 5th July 2015 between 10:00hrs and 15:00hrs.
Masters and owners of vessels operating in the area should comply with guidance instructions from event officials.
Waterways Ireland apologises for any inconvenience caused by this restriction.

NCFFI ANGLING COMPETITION – 16th May 2015

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that National Course Fishing Federation of Ireland will be holding an angling event in the Longwood-Moy Valley area 16th May 2015.
Masters of vessels transiting the area should do so with care.
Waterways Ireland thanks their customers for their co-operation in this matter.

RIBBONTAIL CANOEFEST – 13 June 2015

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that the „Canoefest“ scheduled for Boolykeogh Harbour near Longwood on the Royal Canal for 23 May 2015 has now been changed to 13 June 2015.
Masters and owners of vessels operating in the area should comply with guidance instructions from event officials.
Waterways Ireland apologises for any inconvenience caused by this restriction.
