Lower Bann Navigation

Restricted Navigation

Lough Neagh Entrance and Toome Canal

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that there will be restricted navigation from the Lough Neagh entrance to the Lower Bann Navigation and along the Toome Canal to Toomebridge / B18 road bridge from Mon 11th Aug until and including Mon 25 Aug 2014 to facilitate essential works taking place. Available airdraft will be 4.5m ordinary summer level
Masters will be facilitated with a transit through this section of the navigation by prior arrangement, by contacting +44(0)7876032891

Lough Beg

NAVIGATION MARKER DANGER

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that a navigation marker  located on the eastern side of the channel towards the northern end of Logh Beg has been damaged .
It presently does not have a topmark and only a small portion of the marker  post remains above water level posing a danger to passing vessels.
Masters are advised to proceed at slow speed and maintain a good look-out when in this part of the navigation.

Lock Openings on Mon 24th February 2014

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise owners and masters that there  will be restricted cover for the Lower Bann locks on Monday 24th February 2014.
Navigation users  planning to travel through any of the Lower Bann locks on the Mon 24th Feb should contact the cover lock keeper  Mr David McKendrick on 028 29 540570 giving as much notice as possible in order that lock openings can be co-ordinated on the day.
Normal opening times for this time of year are 10.00-13.00 and 14.00-16.00

Underwater Lock Inspections

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that there may be some delay when passing through locks on the Lower Bann for the next week as Waterways Ireland will be conducting underwater surveys at all locks. Users should proceed with due caution and note works signage and the instructions of lock keepers when approaching locks.

Sluice Gate Adjustment Exercise

Rivers Agency has advised that the sluice gates at Toome will be opened from the morning of Tuesday 15th October, to facilitate a testing exercise at the Cutts gates in

Coleraine. They will remain open until the morning of Saturday 19th October. Boaters may experience strong flows during this exercise.
