Navigation Closure
Waterways Ireland updates masters of vessels and waterway users that the Royal Canal remains closed to navigation at the 17th Level to complete emergency works.
The closure has been in place since Monday 13 October 2025 and has been extended until Monday 26 January 2026.
Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their understanding and cooperation.

Royal Canal – 17. Stufe, Hill of Down Schifffahrtssperre
Waterways Ireland informiert Schiffsführer und Wasserstraßennutzer, dass der Royal Canal auf der 17. Stufe weiterhin für die Schifffahrt gesperrt ist, um Notfallarbeiten durchzuführen.
Die Sperrung besteht seit Montag, dem 13. Oktober 2025, und wurde bis Montag, dem 26. Januar 2026, verlängert.
