Dive Operations –20th & 21st September 2023

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters of vessels and waterway users that it will be carrying out under water structural inspections of the North and South quay walls in Shannon Harbour.
This work will be carried out between Griffith Bridge and the 35th Lock on the 20th & 21st of September between 9am and 5pm. This work will include having divers in the water and an Alpha Flag (Divers Flag) will be flown to indicate their presence.
Waterways Ireland will be required to move vessels for the inspection and will return boats to their original positions when completed. Boat owners are advised to check mooring lines of their boats after the work is completed.

Grand Canal – Hafen von Shannon, Taucheinsätze -20. und 21. September 2023
Waterways Ireland möchte alle Kapitäne von Schiffen und Benutzer der Wasserwege darauf hinweisen, dass im Shannon Harbour strukturelle Unterwasserinspektionen der nördlichen und südlichen Kaimauern durchgeführt werden.
Diese Arbeiten werden zwischen der Griffith Bridge und der 35. Schleuse am 20. und 21. September zwischen 9 und 17 Uhr durchgeführt. Bei diesen Arbeiten werden Taucher im Wasser sein, die mit einer Alpha-Flagge (Taucherflagge) auf ihre Anwesenheit aufmerksam gemacht werden.
Waterways Ireland wird die Boote für die Inspektion versetzen und sie nach Abschluss der Arbeiten wieder an ihre ursprüngliche Position zurückbringen. Bootseigentümern wird empfohlen, nach Abschluss der Arbeiten die Festmacherleinen ihrer Boote zu überprüfen.

IWAI Events June & July 2022

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all users of the Royal Canal and Grand Canal of the following IWAI events;

      • Grand Canal – Shannon Harbour Canal Boat Rally – 24/25/26 June 2022
      • Royal Canal – Mullingar Harbour – Float to the Fleadh – 31 July to 07 Aug 2022

Please note, vessels attending these events are required to apply for a Visitors Permit, free of charge, before entering the canal network.
Masters of vessels are requested to proceed at slow speed and note any directions issued in the vicinity of the events.

Sun 12 July 2015, Fin Swim

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that the 2015 Shannonside Sub Aqua Fin Swim takes places from Shannon Harbour, Grand Canal to Banagher slipway on Sun 12 July commencing at 1330hrs and finishing at 1630hrs.

Masters of vessels are requested to keep a sharp look-out for swimmers in the water , proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash when in this section of the navigation and note any advice from safety boat officials.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise Masters and Owners of vessels that the sunken vessel in the main navigational channel immediately West of the 35th Lock Deep Gate, on the Grand Canal at Shannon Harbour has now been removed.

SUNKEN VESSEL

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise Masters and Owners of vessels that there is a sunken vessel in the main navigational channel immediately West of the 35th Lock Deep Gate, on the Grand Canal at Shannon Harbour.
Passage is not possible at this time. Efforts are being made to remove the vessel at this time and a further Marine Notice will be issued when the channel is clear for navigation.
Any inconvenience to our customers is regretted.
