Shannon-Erne Waterway

Lock 8 Castlefore

Intended closure for works

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that Lock 8 Castlefore on the Shannon-Erne Waterway will be closed to boat traffic from Thursday 19th November 2015 until the end of March 2016, weather permitting.
The lock will remain closed over the winter period to facilitate remedial works to the masonry within the lock chamber and associated lock infrastructure.
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience that this may cause and thanks its customers for their cooperation in this matter.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that this temporary closure has been extended until 30 Nov.
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience that this may cause its customers.

Public Moorings

Further to Marine Notice No. 132 of 2015 Waterways Ireland wishes to advise customers that electricity supply to power pedestals and the supply of water to taps on public moorings will be disconnected on Tues 1 Dec. Water services may be curtailed earlier if there is severe frost before that date.
Masters availing of electricity are requested to run down the balance of their credited units at the power pedestals before 1 Dec.
Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their cooperation in this matter.
