Grand Canal – Hazard Notification
Grand Canal Re-Opened at Devonshire Bridge
Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters of vessels and waterway users that initial works have been undertaken by Kildare County Council at Devonshire Bridge (located between the 13th Lock and the 14th Lock on the Grand Canal) to make the bridge safe for navigation passage underneath.
As a result, vessel navigation through this section of the Grand Canal is now permitted with caution. This follows the previous closure (Marine Notice No. 25 of 2025) which was implemented due to significant damage to the bridge resulting from a vehicle strike.
Key Safety Information:

- Vessels may now pass under Devonshire Bridge with due caution.
- Masters of vessels are advised to be alert to any ongoing works in the vicinity
- The Greenway remains open.

Grand Canal an der Devonshire Bridge wieder geöffnet.
Waterways Ireland möchte die Kapitäne von Schiffen und die Nutzer der Wasserstraße darauf hinweisen, dass der Kildare County Council an der Devonshire Bridge (zwischen der 13. und dem 14. Lock auf dem Grand Canal) erste Arbeiten durchgeführt hat, um die Brücke für die Durchfahrt von Schiffen sicher zu machen.
Infolgedessen ist die Navigation von Schiffen durch diesen Abschnitt des Grand Canal jetzt mit Vorsicht erlaubt. Dies folgt auf die vorherige Sperrung (Marine Notice No. 25 of 2025), die aufgrund erheblicher Schäden an der Brücke infolge eines Fahrzeugaufpralls verhängt wurde.
Wichtige Sicherheitsinformationen:

- Schiffe dürfen die Devonshire-Brücke jetzt mit der gebotenen Vorsicht unterqueren.
- Kapitäne von Schiffen werden gebeten, auf laufende Arbeiten in der Nähe zu achten.
